VMA/MAV - Venice to Mantua Cruise Itinerary
Day 1 - Venice (Italy)
Embark your ship, Michelangelo, at 6pm in Venice. Enjoy a welcome cocktail party in the lounge. After dinner, explore the sights of Venice at leisure. Overnight in port.
Day 2 - Venice
This morning there is an optional visit of the Doge's Palace and Saint Mark's Square. The palace is Byzantine in origin and used to be the home of the Doge and the seat of the Palace of Justice. There is also the option to follow in the footsteps of Casanova with a tour of the Doge's palace. This afternoon's optional excursion visits the islands of the Venetian Lagoon. Begin in Murano, home of Venice’s glassmaking industry since the late 13th century then visit Burano, famous for its lacework which was developed on the island in the 16th century. Return on board.
Day 3 - Venice
Cruise to Chioggia, the starting point for the optional excursion to Vicenza, the epitome of stunning Italian landscapes, food and art. The city's most beautiful buildings are located around the Piazza dei Signori. As guests depart on the tour, the ship cruises to Porto Viro. Guests who don't take the excursion have to disembark the ship and be transferred by coach from Chioggia to Porto Viro. Enjoy free time in Chioggia. This afternoon is spent cruising towards Rovigo.
Day 4 - Rovigo - Torretta
Spend the morning cruising to Torretta. This afternoon, there are two optional excursions. Visit Verona and its impressive ampitheatre or the Giusti Gardens. Alternatively, opt for the bicycle tour of Verona with visit to the Giusti Gardens. Later, return on board in Valdaro.
Day 5 - Valdaro - Mantua
Early morning, begin cruising to Mantua. Join the optional guided tour of Mantua, where the House of Gonzaga ruled for almost 400 years. Spend time at leisure this afternoon. Alternatively, opt for the guided tour of the Ferrari Museum in Modena.
Day 6 - Mantua
Today there is an optional excursion to Cremona and Parma, including lunch. See the sights of Cremona including the medieval square, bell tower and cathedral, before heading to Parma for a visit to the pink-marble Baptistery containing frescoes depicting the life of Christ.
Day 7 - Mantua - Venice
Disembark after breakfast and transfer by coach from Mantua to Venice. It takes about 2 hours for the return transfer and guests will be dropped off at the maritime terminal in Venice.
