The Ship With a guest capacity of just 740 and nearly one staff member per guest the Crystal Serenity, refurbished in 2023, is unparalleled in the world of luxury cruising. State-of-the art in design, Serenity perfectly balances onboard space with a wide choice of entertainment and restaurants, and boasts some the largest suites at sea.
Suites and Guest Rooms There are just 7 stateroom categories, unlike the huge ocean liners which have up to 28. The smallest stateroom is around 215 ft², and the largest a whopping 1265 ft²! My home for the cruise was cabin 8021, a stunning Sapphire Veranda Suite with elegant living area, separate bedroom and shower room, walk-in wardrobe, impressive private balcony and my very own butler – in fact every guest room and suite has a personal butler.
Like the rest of Crystal Serenity, attention to detail in the suites is second to none, from champagne chilling on arrival to afternoon canapes and a mini-bar stocked with your favourite tipple. I have experienced a lot of cruises and this was by far the best suite I have ever stayed in.
Dining My favourite part of any cruise – food! On Serenity you will experience world-class dining. There are nine different dining venues, all complimentary. I should mention here that Crystal Cruises are Ultra-Inclusive, so unless you wish to take part in shore excursions or fancy treating yourself to a massage, you can literally leave your wallet at home.
Waterside Restaurant is the main dining room and I had the best steak ever in here. Fine Italian cuisine in Osteria D’Ovidio and Umi Uma created by Master Chef Nobuyki (Nobu) Matusuhisa, offers a Japanese-Peruvian menu – I seriously couldn’t say which restaurant was my favourite!
You can also choose to dine in Beefbar, offering exciting flavours from the worldwide street-food scene. Or for something more casual, head poolside for a burger at Trident Grill, or enjoy a leisurely buffet in Marketplace. So much to choose from and all utterly delicious.
Entertainment Every single evening Crystal delights guest with world-class performers and entertainers. You can be dazzled by the latest Broadway-style productions in the Galaxy Lounge, sit back and enjoy a movie in the Hollywood Theatre, dance the evening away in Pulse Night Club, or if you fancy a flutter then head to Le Casino de Monte-Carlo, Monaco’s world-famous casino. The Crystal Aurora Spa offers sauna and steam room plus a wide variety of amazing treatments. There truly is something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed sipping a cocktail (or 2!) in piano bar Avenue Saloon.
And the rest... Crystal Serenity has many public spaces so if you wish to soak up the rays around the Seahorse Pool, challenge your fellow guests to a game of pickle ball or work off some calories in Crystal Life Fitness (literally the biggest gym I have ever seen on a ship) there is something to suit all.
As you may have gathered, I thoroughly enjoyed my first sailing with 6-star luxury cruise line Crystal. Attention to detail, exceptional crew and amazing dining means that I will definitely be returning!
