River Rhine to Switzerland Itinerary
Day 1 - UK - Cologne (Germany)
Take the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Brussels or fly from the UK to Dusseldorf or Cologne and transfer to your ship, moored in Cologne. The dedicated crew will welcome you aboard your five-star floating hotel.
Day 2 - Koblenz
Cruise past the rolling hills along the Rhine including the Siebengebirge (seven mountains) to picturesque Koblenz for a guided tour. Founded by the Romans, this city is located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers.
Day 3 - Rudesheim
Cruise through the dramatic Rhine Gorge, a highlight of this cruise, as you continue along the Rhine to Rudesheim. This afternoon, enjoy a guided walking tour taking in the marketplace, the half-timbered Klunkhardshof and Bromserburg Castle.
Day 4 - Speyer
Cruise past the vineyards which produce the popular Liebfraumilch wines. Moor in medieval Speyer. During the 16th century Martin Luther was excommunicated in nearby Worms, and his followers in Speyer protested at this and for the first time they were called 'Protestants'. An afternoon walking tour takes in the UNESCO-listed Imperial Cathedral and the neo-gothic Gedaechtniskirche, built to commemorate the 1529 'Protestation at Speyer'.
Day 5 - Strasbourg
Relax on board as you cruise upstream to Strasbourg in France, capital of the Alsace region and now one of the centres of the European Union. Enjoy a walking tour of its unique 16th century old town. Captain's Dinner on board this evening serving delicious regional specialities.
Day 6 - Breisach (Germany) - Titisee
Visit the ancient town of Breisach before driving amidst some of the more stunning scenery of the Black Forest this afternoon. See the rugged vallets, cascading waterfalls and rolling hillsides covered in densley packed pine trees. Visit the archetyical town of Titisee, nestling on the shores of its crystal clear lake. Cruise to Switzerland this evening.
Day 7 - Lucerne (Switzerland) - Bernese Oberland
This morning, drive to Lucerne and perhaps walk along the Chapel Bridge. Later, enjoy an ascent and descent by mountain railway in the breathtaking Bernese Oberland. Please note: Lunch is not provided but the ship will offer a packed lunch.
Day 8 - Basel - UK
This morning take the TGV to Paris, connecting with the Eurostar back to London St Pancras or alternatively transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
