Rhine and Moselle Delights Itinerary
Day 1 - Basel (Switzerland)
Embark your ship in Basel. Meet your fellow travellers tonight at the Welcome Dinner. (D)
Day 2 - Breisach (Germany)
Today choose to take a walking tour of the picturesque town of Riquewihr or visit historic Freiburg. There is also a bike ride through the scenic countryside or a hiking excursion to the magical Black Forest. (B,L,D)
Day 3 - Strasbourg (France)
Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region. Enjoy a guided tour by coach and see the city's highlights including the Orangery and the European Parliament. Continue on foot with a walking tour of the Petite France area to see the Gothic cathedral with its famous Astronomical Clock. Alternatively, join the guided bike ride through the city. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - Ludwigshafen - Rudesheim
Choose from three excursions. Visit Mannheim's famous Baroque Palace, tour the ornate Schwetzingen Gardens or hike the Philosopher's Path along the Neckar River. Later, cruise to Rudesheim to visit Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, home to the best collection of self-playing musical instruments, or enjoy a tasting of traditional Rudesheimer coffee. Day 5 - Rudesheim - Rhine Gorge
Today in Rudesheim you can take a gondola ride to the Niederwalddenkmal Statue and taste wines at a local vintners or cycle along the Rhine river on a guided bike tour. Alternatively, hike through the town's beautiful vineyards. The ship then sails through the fascinating Rhine Gorge. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - Bernkastel
Explore Bernkastel at the centre of the Moselle wine-producing region and take a guided walking tour through the old town centre followed by a wine tasting. The more active may prefer to join a bike ride along the Moselle river or a guided hike up to the ruined Landshut Castle. (B,L,D)
Day 7 - Trier
Explore Trier, Germany's oldest city, on a guided tour. Alternatively, discover the secrets of the Porta Nigra Gate which dates back to 180 AD, join a guided bike ride of Trier's historic centre and along the riverbank, or hike high above Trier to Petrisberg. (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Cochem
Today, visit the fairytale village of Cochem, surrounded by the scenic wine villages of the Moselle Valley. Learn about Reichsburg Castle then walk along narrow cobblestone streets lined with medieval houses on a guided walking tour. If you prefer you can choose from a visit to the Cochem Mustard Mill, a guided bike ride along the Moselle River or a hike to the castle. (B,L,D)
Day 9 - Cologne
Enjoy a guided walk through Cologne visiting the 13th-century Gothic cathedral and the Old Town; choose a Kolsch beer and local delicacies tasting; or join the guided city bike tour. (B,L,D)
Day 10 - Amsterdam (Holland)
Admire the beautiful homes which line the canals on a canal cruise followed by a walk to the historic Begijnhof area. Please note: The Floriade 2022 Expo opens from 14 April to 9 Oct 2022. (B,L,D)
Day 11 - Amsterdam
Disembark your ship in Amsterdam. (B)
