Rhine and Moselle Delights Special Offer

Explore the history and culture of the traditional towns and villages along the legendary Rhine and Moselle rivers from Basel to Amsterdam.

Visit Breisach which is home to one of Europe's largest wine cellars then sail to Strasbourg to see the European Parliament and the picturesque La Petite France district. Choose from excursions to Mannheim's Baroque Palace, historic Heidelberg and the Schwetzingen Gardens, and visit the famous Siegfried's Mechanical Music Museum in Rudesheim. Sample some of the region's fine wines in Rudesheim and soar over the town on a gondola ride, then tour the historic city of Trier.

Explore Bernkastel which nestles in the heart of the Moselle Valley's wine-producing region, discover the medieval houses and narrow cobblestone houses of the fairytale village of Cochem and enjoy stunning views from Reichsburg Castle. Explore the picturesque town of Koblenz, stroll through the historic centre of Cologne and see the highlights of Amsterdam on a scenic canal cruise.

Rhine and Moselle Delights Itinerary

Day 1 - Basel (Switzerland)

Embark ship in Basel. Meet your fellow travellers tonight at the Welcome Dinner. (D)

Day 2 - Breisach (Germany)

Today choose to take a walking tour of the picturesque town of Riquewihr or visit historic Freiburg. There is also a bike ride through the scenic countryside or an excursion to the magical Black Forest. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Strasbourg (France)

Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region. Enjoy a guided tour by coach or bike and see the city's highlights including the Orangery and the European Parliament. Continue on foot with a walking tour of the Petite France area to see the Gothic cathedral with its famous Astronomical Clock. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Ludwigshafen - Rudesheim

Choose from three excursions today. Visit Mannheim's famous Baroque Palace, take a trip to Heidelberg to see the red-walled castle and its Great Vat, or tour the ornate Schwetzingen Gardens. Later, cruise to Rudesheim to visit Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, home to the best collection of self-playing musical instruments, or enjoy a tasting of traditional Rudesheimer coffee.(B,L,D)

Day 5 - Rudesheim - Rhine Gorge

Today in Rudesheim you can take a gondola ride to the Niederwalddenkmal Statue and taste wines at a local vintners or cycle along the Rhine river on a guided bike tour. The ship then sails through the fascinating Rhine Gorge. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - Bernkastel

Explore Bernkastel at the centre of the Moselle wine-producing region and take a guided walking tour through the old town centre followed by a wine tasting. The more active may prefer to join a bike ride along the Moselle river or a guided hike up to the ruined Landshut Castle. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Trier

Explore Trier, Germany's oldest city, on a guided tour to the Roman Amphitheatre and the Roman Baths. Alternatively there is the chance to discover the secrets of the Porta Nigra Gate which dates back to 180 AD, join a guided bike ride of Trier's historic centre and along the riverbank towards Senheim, or hike high above Trier to Petrisberg. Day 8 - Cochem

Today, visit the fairytale village of Cochem, surrounded by the scenic wine villages of the Moselle Valley. Walk along narrow cobblestone streets lined with medieval houses on a guided walking tour. If you prefer you can choose from a visit to the Cochem Mustard Mill or a guided hike through the stunning scenery to Reichsburg Castle. (B,L,D)

Day 9 - Cologne

Enjoy a guided walk through Cologne visiting the 13th-century Gothic cathedral, the Old Town and Cathedral Square; choose a Kolsch beer and local delicacies tasting; or join the guided city bike tour. (B,L,D)

Day 10 - Amsterdam (Holland)

Admire the beautiful homes which line the canals on a canal cruise followed by a walk to the historic Begijnhof area. There is the chance to join the Jewish Heritage tour. (B,L,D)

Day 11 - Amsterdam

Disembark AmaPrima in Amsterdam. (B)
