Medieval Treasures Itinerary
Day 1 - Basel (Switzerland)
Embark your ship in Basel. Tonight there is a Welcome Dinner on board. (D)
Day 2 - Strasbourg (France)
Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region. Enjoy a guided tour by bus or bike and see the city's highlights including the Orangery, the European Parliament and the famous Astronomical Clock. Afterwards join the guided walking tour of the La Petite France district. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure. (B,L,D)
Day 3 - Ludwigshafen - Rudesheim (Germany)
From Ludwigshafen, choose to either visit the Mannheim's renowned Baroque Palace or enjoy a walking tour of UNESCO-listed Speyer, one of Germany's oldest cities which is home to the largest Romanesque Cathedral in Europe. Alternatively, visit the fascinating Speyer Technical Museum. Later, continue on to Rudesheim where you can take part in an exclusive wine tasting. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - Rudesheim
Today, visit Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum or perhaps opt for an unforgettable gondola ride over the vineyards of the Rhine to the Niederwald Monument. Alternatively, enjoy a guided hike through the local vineyards. (B,L,D)
Day 5 - Miltenberg - Wertheim
Enjoy a walking tour of Miltenberg, an old Franconian town with narrow cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses or perhaps enjoy a tasting of local delicacies on a 'Flavours of Miltenberg' tour. There is also the option to hike to Miltenberg Castle or join a guided bike ride along the River Main. Later, set sail for the beautiful city of Wertheim and join a guided walking tour or taste delicious pretzels at a local bakery. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - Kitzingen - Volkach
From Kitzingen, join guided tour of Wurzburg visiting the magnificent Residenz Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, or discover the history of Rothenburg, Germany's best preserved walled town. If you'd like to get active, perhaps cycle from Kitzingen to Volkach.. (B,L,D)
Day 7 - Bamberg
Take a guided walking tour of Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and see the cathedral, the Old Town and the 18th-century mansions, take a guided bike tour along the Main River or sample some of Bamberg's famous smoked beer, licorice root and Hornla before continuing to Nuremberg. (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Nuremberg
Disembark after breakfast. (B)
