Vietnam and Cambodia Highlights Itinerary
Day 1 - UK - Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)
Fly from the UK to Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 2 - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
On arrival you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel the Park Hyatt. Tonight, meet fellow guests and your APT Tour Director during a briefing and a Welcome Dinner at your hotel. (D)
Day 3 - Ho Chi Minh City - Long Tan Or Cu Chi Tunnels
Today you are able to choose from two Signature Experiences. On the first, journey to Ba Ria and learn about the Battle of Long Tan. Afterwards, attend a memorial service at the Long Tan Cross. Alternatively, visit the fascinating Cu Chi Tunnels. Tonight, enjoy a Luke Nguyen-inspired degustation dinner at Vietnam House. Stay at the Park Hyatt hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - Ho Chi Minh City
Perhaps enjoy a leisurely walking tour of Ho Chi Minh City, visiting the Reunification Palace and the Central Post Office. Or jump on the back of a motorbike for an exciting city tour. Other options include retail therapy, a tour of artist workshps or an authentic cooking class. Later, embark on your eight-day luxury Lower Mekong River cruise, a true highlight of your journey. Enjoy a delicious Welcome Dinner this evening. (B,L,D)
Day 5 - Cai Be - Sa Dec
Step ashore in Cai Be and head to a local rice paper manufacturer before cruising to Sa Dec. Here learn about Marguerite Duras' novel The Lover and visit a traditional Cao Dai temple. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - Tan Chau - Evergreen Island
Explore Tan Chau by small boat and rickshaw then head to a remote evergreen island to experience authentic rural Mekong life. This afternoon cross into Cambodia. (B,L,D)
Day 7 - Phnom Penh (Cambodia)
Choose between the sobering excursion to the Killing Fields, a tuk tuk ride in Phnom Penh or a visit to the National Museum. (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Phnom Penh - Koh Chen
Disembark in Phnom Penh and travel to historic Oudong where you will visit a monastery for a Buddhist blessing with local monks. On the way back, stroll through the village of Koh Chen and perhaps visit the copperware workshops. Later cruise to Oknha Tey, renowned for its silk manufacturing traditions. (B,L,D)
Day 9 - Angkor Ban
Join a walking discovery of Angkor Ban, one of the few villages in Cambodia that was not destroyed under the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. Here, people still live in traditional wooden homes and keep ancient cultural traditions alive. Continuing cruising towards Siem Reap this afternoon, enjoy some time at leisure on board. Perhaps go for a dip in the pool, or kick back on the Sun Deck with a good book and drink in hand. (B,L,D)
Day 10 - Kampong Cham
If you are feeling active this morning, perhaps take a walk to the hilltop pagoda of Wat Hanchey to enjoy the views of the Mekong. Enjoy lunch on board before a tuk tuk to explore Koh Pen with its wooden stilt houses and local farming culture. Farewell Dinner this evening. (B,L,D)
Day 11 - Kampong Cham - Siem Reap
Disembark for the final time and transfer to your hotel in Siem Reap, the Hotel Sofitel Angkor, for a three-night stay. Visit the World Heritage-listed Angkor Archaeological Park with highlights including the 12th-century Bayon temple. (B,D)
Day 12 - Siem Reap - Angkor
Enjoy watching the sun rise at Angkor Wat this morning. Afterwards, tour this magnificent temple, before returning to the hotel for breakfast. The afternoon is spent visiting the temple of Ta Prohm which is famous for its intertwined trees and the Opportunities of Development thru Art (ODA) which supports disadvantaged children. (B)
Day 13 - Siem Reap - Angkor
Choose from a selection of sightseeing activities, before enjoying an Apsara dance performance and Farewell Dinner this evening. (B,D)
Day 14 - Siem Reap
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. (B)
Day 15 - UK
Arrive back in the UK.
