New Year on the Danube Itinerary
Day 1 - Passau (Germany)
Embark ship in Passau. Enjoy a welcome cocktail and welcome dinner with your fellow guests.
Day 2 - Vienna (Austria)
Take an optional city tour of Vienna, home to the magnificent St Stephen's Cathedral and the impressive Hofburg Palace, with a panoramic drive followed by a guided walk through the city centre. Alternatively, experience a wonderful torchlight hike through the cellar alleys of Grinzing and the vineyards on the hills of the Kahlenberg, then reward yourself with homemade mulled wine and hot roasted chestnuts.
Day 3 - Budapest (Hungary)
Arrive in the Hungarian capital city of Budapest where an optional guided city tour reveals UNESCO-listed sites including Andrassy Avenue, Heroes Square and the Buda Castle Quarter. Admire the impressive Hungarian Parliament which dominates the waterfront or wander along the traditional streets. This evening, there is a traditional Hungarian folklore show on board, followed by a cruise through festively illuminated Budapest. Celebrate New Year on board in style while enjoying an excellent view of the spectacular fireworks from the sun deck.
Day 4 - Budapest
Spend the morning at leisure; you may wish to explore more of beautiful Budapest, or simply relax on board enjoying the Panorama Bar or walk around the sun deck.
Day 5 - Bratislava (Slovakia)
Bratislava is the cultural and economic centre of Slovakia, home to the parliament as well as many museums and galleries which show the country's rich history. Perhaps join the guided tour to see St Martin's Cathedral, Grassalkovich Palace and the Opera House. Alternatively, travel by coach to the Schloss Hof Palace and Estate, or visit the Primatial Palace, where there is also a beer tasting. An elegant Captain’s Gala Dinner awaits you in the evening.
Day 6 - Emmersdorf (Austria)
Spend the morning enjoying the impressive views of the passing winter landscapes. At midday the ship docks in Emmersdorf located in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley where there is an optional excursion to nearby Melk and its spectacular Benedictine Abbey followed by a visit to the wine-producing town of Durnstein with a wine tasting back in Emmersdorf.
Day 7 - Passau (Germany)
Disembark ship in Passau.
