Danube to the Black Sea

• Day 1 UK - Vienna (Austria)

  Fly from the UK to Vienna and embark the ship. Welcome Cocktail followed by a Welcome Dinner this evening.

• Day 2 Vienna - Bratislava (Slovakia)

  Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and home to the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. The spectacular Bratislava Castle towers over the city, while Michael's Gate is the perfect place to start a stroll through the historic centre where sights include St Martin's cathedral and the Primatial Palace. Optional excursions in the afternoon include a visit to the Imperial Schlosshof Palace, or the Little Carpathian wine route.

• Day 3 Esztergom (Hungary) - Budapest

  This morning arrive in Esztergom. Disembark for an optional excursion to Esztergom and Szentendre, a small riverside town, or relax on board whilst cruising to Budapest. This afternoon there is an optional city tour before scenic 'Budapest by Night' cruising with a folklore show on board.

• Day 4 Mohacs - Vukovar (Croatia)

  You arrive in Mohacs early in the morning, and depart again directly after breakfast, heading towards Croatia. This afternoon there is an optional excursion to Osijek and Kopacki Rit Nature Park. Kopacki Rit is one of Europe's largest wetlands, home to more than 290 species of birds

• Day 5 Belgrade (Serbia)

  Belgrade is the beautiful capital of Serbia and is located at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. Key sights include the impressive Kalemegdan-Belgrade Fortress, the Parliament and the magnificent St Sava Church, Serbia's largest Orthodox church. Belgrade has a lively pedestrian area as well as a variety of museums, from the Nikola Tesla Museum to the Aeronautical Museum. Today's optional excursions include a morning city tour of Belgrade, an excursion to Topola and Oplenac and an evening visit to the artist's quarter Skadarlija.

• Day 6 Iron Gates

  Your ship cruises the dramatic Iron Gates, a narrow gorge which separates the Carpathian and Balkan Mountains, and offers breathtaking scenery.

• Day 7 Svishtov (Bulgaria) - Giurgui (Romania)

  Disembark this morning in Svishtov for an optional excursion to Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi including lunch. Alternatively, explore the city of Rousse and head towards the rock monastery of Basarbovo, an active cave monastery which was built in the 16th century. Rejoin the ship in Giurgiu ready for this evening's Gala Dinner.

• Day 8 Danube Delta - St George

  This morning is spent cruising St George, one of the main channels in the Delta. The Danube Delta is where the Black Sea meets the Danube and is a UNESCO site with nearly thirty different ecosystems and a variety of wildlife. Optional 'Delta Nature Experience' boat excursion (only bookable on board)

• Day 9 Fetesti - Bucharest

  Disembark and transfer to a centrally located hotel in Bucharest. Enjoy a city tour of Bucharest with included lunch. Farewell Dinner this evening.

• Day 10 Bucharest - UK

  Check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.

In the village of Kopačevo, sample local fruit brandies, wines, smoked sausages, and homemade cakes. The journey continues to Osijek, where a city walk showcases the baroque fortress, vibrant galleries, and Croatia’s largest baroque statue.

• Day 5 Belgrade

  Discover Belgrade, Serbia’s lively capital. From Kalemegdan Fortress, take in panoramic views of the confluence of the Danube and Sava. A city tour highlights Terazije Square, the Princess Ljubica Residence, the National Museum, and the grand St. Sava Cathedral. In the afternoon, savor the flavors of traditional rakija at the Belgrade Distillery and learn about its rich history. Evening entertainment includes a spirited folklore show, followed by dinner in the atmospheric Skadarlija quarter.

• Day 6 Golubac

  Arrive at Golubac Fortress, steeped in history, and admire its stunning views. Choose an optional excursion to the prehistoric site of Lepenski Vir or enjoy local crafts and tasting at Captain Miša’s Hill. Hike through the spectacular Iron Gates section of the Djerdap National Park for dramatic vistas. As the ship glides between Drobeta Turnu Severin and Moldova Veche, marvel at the Danube’s narrow canyon, flanked by Europe’s tallest rock sculpture-the face of Dacian King Decebalus.

  Dock in Svistov, Bulgaria, and step back in time. Visit Veliko Tarnovo, a medieval town perched above the Yantra River gorge, with its Zarewez Fortress, churches, and picturesque Samovodska Street. For a more active option, explore the Rusenski Lom Nature Park with its dramatic cliffs, riverside valleys, and breathtaking panoramas. Return to the ship to relax as it sails toward Giurgiu.

  Escape into the pristine wilderness of the Danube Delta. Travel by bus from Hârşova to Tulcea, visit the Delta Museum, and enjoy a traditional lunch. Board a boat to navigate the tranquil waterways, spotting pelicans and other wildlife along the way. Alternatively, experience the Black Sea at Constanța and explore the Murfatlar wine region with tasting, lunch, and live folklore performances.

Shortly after boarding, your river journey begins with a welcome cocktail and a sumptuous dinner on board.

• Day 2 Fetesti

The bus takes you from Hârşova to Tulcea to your excursion boats for a delta safari and a voyage of discovery through the beautiful nature reserve. In the evening, a folklore program awaits you on board.

• Day 4 Fetesti

  Swap the river for the vastness of the Black Sea. Your coastal excursion takes you to Constanța, a city steeped in history with a Mediterranean charm. Explore Romania’s millennia-old culture at the Museum of Folk Art, then continue to the renowned Murfatlar wine region for a tasting of locally crafted wines.

• Day 4 Chiciu
• Day 5 Svishtov

  In the morning, the vessel arrives in the Bulgarian town of Svisthov, the southernmost point on the Danube. If you wish, you can go ashore here for an excursion to Veliko Tarnovo, the oldest town in Bulgaria. High on a peak are the remains of the medieval town of Tsarevets, where 22 tsars made history in the 2nd Bulgarian empire. Afterwards, the village of Arbanassi promises authentic murals at the Church of the Nativity and rose oil, the local specialty. Enjoy a delicious Bulgarian lunch before reaching the ship in Nikopol.

• Day 6 Iron Gates

  Look no further than the Sun Deck or your cabin window for spectacular scenery as we spend a leisurely day aboard. Get your camera ready as we pass through the Iron Gates, the river’s narrowest stretch bordered by massive stone cliffs. For more than 110 kilometers, we experience nature at her finest. Europe’s highest rock sculpture mirrors the image of Dacian King Decebalus and he peers down at the passing vessel. 

• Day 7 Belgrade

  This morning, discover Serbia’s vibrant capital. From the Kalemegdan Fortress, gaze over Belgrade and the confluence of the Danube and Save while learning the city’s history. Drive past the Terazije Square, Princess Ljubica’s residence, and the St. Sava Cathedral. Optional excursions include a visit to the Belgrade Distillery for a guided tasting of Serbia’s signature Rakija or an active hike through Kalemegdan Park to explore the fortress walls and historic ramparts.

• Day 8 Mohács

  Relax on board in the morning, then journey into the expansive Puszta. Visit a traditional farmstead and marvel at the skillful horsemanship in a thrilling local equestrian show.

• Day 8 Kalocsa
• Day 9 Budapest

  On this fine morning, a Queen appears along the river. Budapest, the "Queen of the Danube", enchants with her grace and architectural style. During the tour, explore the State Opera House, Parliament, and Heroes Square. From the towers of Fisherman’s Bastion, capture the beauty of the river landscape to carry home with you. If food is your passion, join “Flavors of Budapest” in the afternoon. As the sun lowers beyond the river, our lighted tour through the city serves as the prelude for a full evening of entertainment filled with fun and folklore.

• Day 10 Bratislava

  Your journey’s memories are already treasures. In Bratislava, explore the old town and climb the castle hill for panoramic views, then stroll through historic streets lined with baroque palaces. The day concludes with a lavish gala dinner.

• Day 11 Vienna

  Following breakfast, the goodbyes begin. Our AMADEUS crew bids you farewell, wishing you safe travels home with the hope we cruise again together.
