Taste of Bordeaux Itinerary
Day 1 - Bordeaux (France)
Embark AmaDolce in Bordeaux and enjoy a Welcome Dinner this evening. (B)
Day 2 - Bordeaux - Libourne
Spend the morning cruising though the iconic sights of Bordeaux to Libourne. From here, perhaps head to Saint-Emilion where you can discover the monolithic church carved out of limestone rock and explore its catacombs and caves. Then enjoy a Grand Cru Classe wine tasting at a nearby chateau. For a more active adventure, join a guided bike ride through the countryside to Saint-Emilion and then onto Chateau Soutard for a Grand Cru Classe wine tasting. Alternatively, tour the magnificent Chateau Vayres. (B,L,D)
Day 3 - Libourne - Blaye
This morning, choose from a number of excursions. Sample local specialities as you wander through Libourne's indoor market or tour the stunning 19th-century Chateau de Montaigne and enjoy a wine tasting. Alternatively, visit Fronsac where Libourne's first vines were planted 2000 years and taste local wines or hike through one of Libourne's renowned vineyards. Later, head to Blaye where you can spend the evening at leisure. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - Blaye - Bourg
In Blaye, there is an excursion to the city's 17th-century citadel - a UNESCO World Heritage Site which has impressive views across the Gironde estuary. Alternatively join the bike tour through vineyards and past chateaux. This afternoon cruise or cycle to Bourg and join a guided walking tour as well as a visit to the Carriage Museum, Later, enjoy an exclusive festival of music and wine in this charming medieval village. Day 5 - Pauillac
Take a guided tour of Pauillac, situated in the Medoc wine region where some of the world's finest Bordeaux wines are produced. Enjoy wine tasting this afternoon before returning to the ship. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - Cadillac - Bordeaux
In Cadillac, visit the Sauternes wine region and taste the highly sought-after sweet wines. See the historic Roquetaillade Castle, a fortress which was initially built in the 10th century by Charlemagne as his army advanced toward the Pyrenees. (B,L,D)
Day 7 - Bordeaux
Today there is a guided walking tour of Bordeaux, the breathtaking capital of the wine world which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a tasting at the Wine Museum. For a more active way to view the city join the guided bike tour. (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Bordeaux
Disembark AmaDolce in Bordeaux. (B)
