This unforgettable luxury expedition cruise explores the breathtaking Baja Peninsula, renowned for its beaches, before entering the Sea of Cortez.

Join your ship in San Diego and cruise to picturesque Cabo San Lucas on the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula. See the incredible rock formation rising from the ocean and the pristine white sand beaches during your time here. Continue to UNESCO-listed Coronado Island where you'll enjoy a snorkelling trip in the turquoise waters, teeming with marine life including sea lions and sea turtles.

Discover the outstanding natural beauty of Danzante Island, go snorkelling in the waters surrounding Monserrat Island, part of the Bahia de Loreto Maritime National Park, and explore the mangrove forests of Bahia Amortajada on San Jose Island. Los Islotes is known for its large colony of California sea lions, while the twin islands of Isla Partida and Espiritu Santo are considered the jewels of the Sea of Cortez.

Snorkel in the tranquil waters off Cerralvo Island, also called Jacques Coutsteau Island in honour of the famous French oceanographer, and relax in the seaside resort of Huatulco with its 36 beaches, before cruising to Puerto Quetzal, close to the old city of Antigua.

Baja Peninsula and Sea of Cortez National Geographic Itinerary

Day 1 - San Diego (USA)

Embark your ship in San Diego.

Days 2-3 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board during relaxing days at sea.

Day 4 - Cabo San Lucas (Mexico)

The seaside resort of Cabo San Lucas is located on the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula and has a lot to offer. It is renowned for its rock formation rising from the ocean and its stunning white sand beaches. The town also has lively nightlife.

Day 5 - Coronado Island (USA) - Danzante Island (Mexico)

In the heart of the Gulf of California is the UNESCO-listed island of Coronado. Enjoy a snorkelling trip and discover the exceptional marine life, including sea lions, sea turtles and fish. There is also a guided walk with the Expedition Team. Continue to Danzante Island with its beaches, hiking trails and abundance of flora and fauna, some of which you'll be able to see during a snorkelling trip.

Day 6 - Monserrat Island - Puerto Agua Verde

Land by Zodiac on the island of Montserrat, one of the islands which makes up the Bahia de Loreto Maritime National Park. Montserrat's pristine white sand beach will be the starting point for a snorkelling trip accompanied by the Expedition Team. Continue to Puerto Agua Verde and admire the striking rock formations. Explore by Zodiac, snorkel and swim.

Day 7 - Punta Colorada (USA) - Bahia Amortajada

North of the bay of La Paz is San Jose Island. In the west is Punta Colorada with its red and orche cliffs which you'll be able to admire as you approach the coast by Zodiac. Inland you'll find giant cacti, while the turquoise waters are home to a variety of fish including angel fish and butterfly fish. Continue to Bahia Amortajada where the Expedition Team will lead you into the heart of the mangrove forests.

Day 8 - Los Islotes (Mexico) - Isla Partida - Espiritu Santo Island

Los Islotes are rocky islets situated to the south west of California Bay and renowned for their large colony of California sea lions. A Zodiac excursion is the perfect way to see these animals and you may have the opportunity to swim alongside them. Continue to the twin islands of Isla Partida and Espiritu Santo, considered jewels of the Sea of Cortez. Discover sheer cliffs, turquoise bays and sublime beaches, as well as a variety of flora and fauna.

Day 9 - Cerralvo Island

Cerralvo Island is also called Jacques Cousteau Island in honour of the famous French oceanographer. Outstanding natural beauty awaits. During a snorkelling trip, you may be lucky enough to see golden groupers, sailfish and marlins. There will also be a walk along a dry river bed with the Expedition Team.

Days 10-11 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board during relaxing days at sea.

Day 12 - Huatulco

The seaside resort of Huatulco has 36 incredible beaches, four of which are ecological preserves. There is an included excursion to the Copalita Archaeological Site and Museum, and an optional catamaran cruise.

Day 13 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board during a day at sea.

Day 14 - Puerto Quetzal (Guatemala)

Disembark your ship in Puerto Quetzal.
