This part of the canal is known as the Green Way and meanders through the plain between the Vosges and Alsace. It links Saverne to Strasbourg, the gateway to Alsace at the foot of the Vosges Mountains, and meanders through breathtaking scenery.
Its spectacular architecture and many structural works include the 'Saint-Louis-Arzviller inclined plane' (the only one in Europe), where boats are hoisted up a steep incline through the Vosges.
Highlights of this spectacular itinerary include a visit to the majestic Chateau de Hohbarr, a guided tour of picturesque Saverne and a hike through the beautiful hop fields in Wingersheim.
