Opatija to Dubrovnik Itinerary
Day 1 - Opatija (Croatia) - Rab
Embark your ship and set sail at 1pm towards Rab, known as the 'Island of Love'. Enjoy a guided city tour taking in the medieval walls and famous four towers, as well as palaces and churches. After the tour, sample the special Rab cake. (L)
Day 2 - Zadar
After breakfast, set sail for Zadar, the oldest university town in Croatia. See the Roman Forum, St Donat church and the famous medieval Basilica. In the old town, discover museums and noble families' palaces. In recent years, Zadar has added the famous Sea Organs and 'Greeting to the Sun' light installations on the waterfront, the perfect place to watch the sun set. Guided tour. (B,L,T)
Day 3 - Krka Waterfalls National Park - Sibenik
Cruise towards Skradin then board a coach, stopping at the famous Bibich winery for wine tasting and a light tapas lunch (optional tour). Back in Skradin, we walk through the breathtaking Krka Waterfalls National Park and visit 'Skradinski Buk'. There are 17 incredible waterfalls and the beautiful Krka river. Swimming under the waterfalls is a special experience. Continue to Sibenik and explore its beautiful old town, overlooked by the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James. Day 4 - Sibenik - Split
Early morning, cruise to the beautiful town of Sibenik. It has a wealth of historical and cultural monuments and buildings, the most important being the impressive Cathedral of St James, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Moor overnight. (B,L)
Day 5 - Split - Metkovic
Discover one of the last remaining wetland deltas in Europe. Cruise to Metkovic, after which the delta is named. Enjoy a barge ride to explore the groves and flora and fauna, plus observe the traditional way of life of the Neretva people. Visit the Narona archaeological museum in Vid which houses the remains of a Roman temple, the Augusteum, as well as marble sculptures of Roman emperors and their family members. Day 6 - Metkovic - Korcula
Set sail towards Korcula, known as the birthplace of Marco Polo. The island is known as 'Black Island' as it is covered by black pine forests. Korcula town is beautiful and enclosed by medieval stone ramparts and towers. You may be able to see the famous Moreska sword dance-fight during your time here. Join a local guide and wander through the old town along the quaint streets designed in a fish bone pattern. (B,L)
Day 7 - Korcula - Dubrovnik
Make sure you're up on deck as your ship cruises into Dubrovnik, described as 'heaven on earth' by writer George Bernard Shaw. Cruise alongside the city walls and enjoy lunch on deck, before mooring in Gruz harbour. Head to the old town for a guided walking tour, then spend time at leisure. Perhaps walk the famous ramparts or take the cable car to Srd mountain for panoramic views (ticket included). (B,L)
