From the shinning city of Vancouver to the stunning volcanic islands of Hawai’i, sailing across the Pacific Ocean lets you enjoy a Journey where time loses its pull and allows you to set your internal clock to the pacific rhythm of the waves.

The magic of kai (ocean) begins in Vancouver, a tomorrow-city that is equal parts India, China, England, France and the Pacific Northwest. As the sun begins to set, we follow golden rays West into a horizon vast and endless. With 5 days sailing, we luxuriate on EXPLORA I, where there are no deadlines, but only time measured by yoga at sunrise, a pool-side cabana at noon, cocktails at sunset and dancing under a celestial moon. When the sun is high, we see the first glimpse of Hawai’i, which is the proper name of the Big Island. You can almost see Pele, the volcano goddess and creator of the islands, sitting in her heaven in Hilo. An island of five volcanoes, deep canyons, plummeting waterfalls all harken to sites that haven’t changed in a millennium.

Take a cardio-hike through Volcano National Park. Walk to Akaka Falls that plummets some 422 feet (128 meters) to spring forth a multitude of misty rainbows. Or hop a helicopter to hover active Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanos. Tip: leave Hilo only with a frangipani flower tucked behind your ear and drop the lava rocks, for legend has it that if you take one of Pele’s stone babies, it will cause you seven years of bad luck. Good tidings continue for us on Oahu, where Honolulu welcomes us with its wide Waikiki Beach. Imagine chauffeured shopping safaris or champagne toasts atop Diamond Head. Enjoy a private tour of Pearl Harbor and the Punchbowl Crater that cradles the National Memorial Cemetery. Linger longer to attend a traditional Hawaiian Luau or venture to the dreamy North Shore and watch champion surfers go tubular epic waves.

Inaugural Hawaiian Journey - Hawai'i Volcanos & the Magic of Kai Itinerary

Day 1 - Vancouver, British Columbia

Surrounded by mountains, vibrant Vancouver is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and cosmopolitan adventurers alike. Meandering oceanside pathways surround eclectic neighbourhoods – Stanley Park, the West End, Gastown, Yaletown, Chinatown. A major global city, it is renowned for its cultural diversity and thriving art, theatre, music and food scenes. Its perfectly picturesque setting makes it popular filming location – with old-growth cedar forests, mountains covering 75% and two-thirds of Canada's bird species and land mammals. A big, bustling city perched on the edge of wilderness.

Day 7 - Hilo, Hawaii

Located on the north-eastern side of the island of Hawai’i, Hilo nestles into a verdant valley punctuated with dramatic waterfalls, fertile rainforests, gorgeous gardens, ranch land, macadamia nut and coffee farms. Polynesian traditions began around 1000 AD with the arrival of the first settlers. The birthplace of the great warrior, diplomat and leader, King Kamehameha I –immortalized for uniting the Hawai’ian Islands into one kingdom in 1810 after years of conflict. Now, a blissful tropical paradise with magical orchids to jet-black sands, snow-capped heights to lush valleys – the island of Hawaii is an unrivalled expression of the majesty of nature. As the proverb reminds, “Kahuna Nui Hale Kealohalani Makua”, love all you see, including yourself.”
