When summer leaves turn crimson and gold, there’s no better place to be than the colourful coves of Atlantic Canada and America’s New England. Days at sea allow nature’s drama to unfold as we slip past remote islands and rugged shores where red-stripped lighthouses welcome us home.

The wonder begins Quebec City, a UNESCO site, undeniably endowed with classic architecture and European charms, especially in its quaint Old Town, Quartier Petit-Champlain. Catch your breath in Gaspe, where we yearn to explore pine forests, rocky promontories and gaze at pristine beauty so hard to encounter in the modern world. Nova Scotia offers a flourish of Scottish heritage through the scenic Cabot Trail and Cape Bretton Highlands National Park where moose roam free and fox and rabbit thrive despite the area’s early age as an outpost for fur traders. St. John is our gateway to fantastic Fundy Bay, where each day some 175 billion tons of water rush in and out of the bay, causing it to swell to a height of a five-story building before sinking to nothing. The easterly winds draw us to Maine’s oldest lighthouse, Head Light, that was commissioned in 1787 at the behest of America’s founding President, George Washington.

Portland promises with small-town charm, Victorian mansions, and forests ablaze in fall’s colours. We lose our hearts in New York City, where the Upper West side flaunts its Museum Mile while the Financial District boats One World Tower and Observatory atop the western hemisphere’s tallest building. An ocean state of mind takes us to Florida’s Space Coast to find out-of-bounds experiences from rockets to race cars. Go behind the scenes at Kennedy Space Center or fulfil you need for speed at Daytona International Speedway where you can buckle into a NASCAR race car on one of the most storied racetracks in the world. Gentle tides wash us upon Miami Beach where Art Deco buildings clustered against the uninterrupted blue of sea and sky and blindingly white beaches are matched only by the city’s dazzling nightlife.
