Viking Homelands Itinerary
Day 1 - UK – Stockholm (Sweden)
Fly from the UK to Stockholm and transfer to the port to embark your ship. Explore the stunning archipelago, nestled where Lake Malaren's waters meet the Baltic. Discover the 13th-century town "Gamla Stan" with its German-influenced architecture or perhaps visit the Vasa Museum which contains the shipwreck of a 17th-century warship. This evening, enjoy an authentic Smorgasbord, complete with traditional smoked salmon.
Day 2 - Stockholm
Enjoy an included coach tour of Stockholm. Enjoy magnificent views of eight of the islands upon which the city is built. See the sights including the City Hall, Parliament, Royal Palace and Royal Opera. There is also the option to visit the Vasa Museum, enjoy a vintage train ride on the Upsala-Lenna railway, or head to Drottningholm Palace.
Day 3 - Helsinki (Finland)
Enjoy a full day in Helsinki, known as the "White City of the North". Take an included city tour where you can see the magnificent Uspenski Cathedral, the elegant Helsinki Cathedral and the National Museum of Finland. Alternatively, you can explore the city by bike, visit medieval Porvoo or take part in a kayaking adventure.
Days 4-5 - St Petersburg (Russia)
Enjoy a two-day stay in St Petersburg situated on the banks of the river Neva. Enjoy an included coach tour of the city with highlights including Saint Isaac's Cathedral, the Winter Palace and the Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood. There is a choice of optional tours, including the Hermitage Museum, a performance of Russian ballet and a visit to Peterhof Palace.
Day 6 - Tallinn (Estonia)
Spend a full day in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Visit Tallinn's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with cobbled streets and red rooftops. Enjoy an included guided walk. See the medieval town wall, the National Opera and Freedom Square, before visiting Lower Town. There is the option to explore the city by bicycle, and take a tour of the Kalev Chocolate Factory.
Day 7 - At sea
Relax on board as you cruise to Gdansk in Poland.
Day 8 - Gdansk (Poland)
Explore Gdansk, one of the wealthiest cities in the Hanseatic League. Take an included city tour with highlights including Solidarity Square and the 15th-century merchant's palace of Artus Court. There is a choice of optional tours, including Malbork Castle, the world's largest castle, and a sobering excursion to the Stutthof concentration camp.
Day 9 - Warnemunde (Berlin, Germany)
From Warnemunde, travel through the picturesque countryside of the Mecklenburg region to Berlin. Enjoy an included coach tour of the major sights including the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, before spending time at leisure in the centre. There is the option to take lunch in the Kafer restaurant which perches atop the spectacular Reichstag, visit a microbrewery and learn about beer brewing and bottling, and ride on the Molli Railway.
Day 10 - Copenhagen (Denmark)
Spend a full day in the Danish capital. On an included tour, see the Little Mermaid statue, New Opera House, and Amalienborg Palace, the royal winter residence. There is the option to visit Tivoli Gardens, enjoy a canal cruise along the Christianshavn and Frederiksholm Canals, or head to the countryside and discover fascinating castles.
Day 11 - Alborg
The historic city of Aalborg straddles both sides of the Limfjord Sound. An included walking tour passes the Utzon Centre, Utzon Park and the charming Old Town. Optional excursions include a visit to the Fyrkat reconstructed farm to learn about Viking traditions, a tour of the Voergaard Manor House, and a walking tour with sampling of Danish beers.
Day 12 - Stavanger (Norway)
Your ship berths in the heart of old town. Enjoy a walking tour of Stavanger with highlights including the old quarter, Gamle Stavanger and the Norwegian Petroleum Museum. There are several optional excursions, including a cruise along the Lysefjord to see the famous "Pulpit Rock", and a helicopter tour.
Day 13 - Eidfjord
Cruise through scenic fjords into the village of Eidfjord. Enjoy a sweeping view of one of Norway's most beautiful regions during a drive up the valley to Ovre Eidfjord and a visit to the Norwegian Nature Centre. Optional excursions include a kayaking adventure, a ride on the famous Flam Railway, and a cider tasting at the Hardanger Juice and Cider Factory.
Day 14 - Bergen
Explore Bergen encircled by majestic mountains and picturesque fjords. Berth next to the UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf. Enjoy views over Bergen Harbour and hear about the city's colourful past on your included tour. There is the option to visit the home of Edvard Grieg, Norway's famous composer, and enjoy a flight on a seaplane over the stunning fjords.
Day 15 - Bergen – UK
Disembark and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
