The Three Arctic Islands: Longyearbyen to Reykjavik
Day 1 - Longyearbyen (Svalbard)
Embark your ship in Longyearbyen.
Day 2-5 - Spitsbergen
Exploring Spitsbergen, the largest island of the Norwegian Svalbard archipelago, rewards you with a wide range of wildlife and austere beauty. Here, you’ll explore spectacular glacier fronts and steep-walled fjords, with walrus, polar bears and Svalbard reindeer amongst the possible wildlife sightings as well as arctic terns, skuas, long-tailed ducks, kittiwakes and ivory gulls. If conditions allow there may be the chance to sail within 10 degrees of the North Pole.
Day 6-7 - At sea
While sailing south through the Greenland Sea, your Expedition Team will teach you about the wildlife and history of Greenland, your next stop. Enjoy a lecture, sip a cocktail in the bar or watch a movie - there are many things to do during your time at sea.
Day 8-11 - Greenland's East Coast Fjords
During your tour of Greenland’s remote eastern coast there will be Zodiac cruises and shore visits to several locations. Explore the remains of ancient Thule settlements and keep an eye out for grazing muskoxen - 40% of the world’s muskoxen population lives here. Sail through stunning Scoresbysund, the birthplace of many icebergs and one of the most beautiful fjord systems in the world.
Day 12-13 - At sea
Cruise south along the Denmark Strait toward Iceland. Your Expedition Team will keep you informed with presentations about the history of exploration in the Arctic and the seabirds you’ll see flying above your ship.
Day 14 - Reykjavík (Iceland)
Disembark ship in Reykjavík.
When travelling in extremely remote regions the expedition staff will allow the sea, ice and weather to guide route and itinerary details. This itinerary is a tentative outline of what you’ll experience on this voyage.
The Three Arctic Islands: Reykjavik to Longyearbyen
Day 1 - Reykjavik
Embark your ship in Reykjavik.
Day 2-3 - At Sea
Cruise along the Denmark Strait toward Greenland. Your Expedition Team will keep you informed with presentations about the history of exploration in the Arctic and the seabirds you’ll see flying above your ship.
Day 4-7 - East Greenland
During your tour of Greenland’s remote eastern coast, you’ll enjoy Zodiac cruises and shore visits to several locations. Explore the remains of ancient Thule settlements and keep an eye out for grazing muskoxen—40 percent of the world’s muskoxen population lives here. If conditions allow, you may also visit Ittoqqortoormiit, the most remote community in East Greenland.
Day 8-9 - At Sea
As we continue to cruise north, the Greenland Sea is your pathway toward Svalbard. On deck, you’ll learn to identify seabirds “on the wing.” Take in a presentation, share your photos, sip an icy cocktail in the bar or watch a movie—there are many things to do during your time at sea.
