Enjoy the colour and sunshine of the volcanic Canary Islands on this summer cruise from London Tilbury.

Spend a day in the historic city of Amsterdam then cruise along the Atlantic Coast to Gibraltar, home to the famous Rock. Lanzarote, with its sub-tropical climate, is the first of the Canary Islands visited, followed by beautiful Gran Canaria. Dominated by Mount Teide, Tenerife is the largest of the Canaries and its capital, Santa Cruz, has many museums and tropical gardens to discover.

Returning back across the Atlantic Ocean, visit Funchal on the exotic island of Madeira and the historic Portuguese city of Lisbon, where the ancient Moorish Alfama district offers stunning views.

Summer in the Canaries Itinerary

Day 1 - London Tilbury (UK)

Embark Columbus in London Tilbury.

Day 2 - Amsterdam (Netherlands)

Explore the charming and quirky city of Amsterdam with its many quaint coffee shops, beautiful churches and picturesque tree-lined canals. Perhaps discover one of the world-class museums including the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House and the famous Rijksmuseum.

Days 3-5 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 6 - Gibraltar

Gibraltar and Mt Abyla were known as the Pillars of Hercules in ancient times. Today it is a renowned headland under British rule. Keep an eye out for the famous Barbary apes that live on the island and perhaps enjoy a cable car ride for panoramic views across to Africa.

Day 7 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 8 - Arrecife (Lanzarote)

In the 15th century, Arrecife was a small fishing harbour. Today it is the capital of Lanzarote, the fourth largest island in the Canaries, located just north of the Tropic of Cancer. Perhaps enjoy duty free shopping at Calle Leon y Castila.

Day 9 - Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)

Las Palmas is the beautiful capital of Gran Canaria and enjoys a sub-tropical climate. Its stunning beaches and soaring peaks have made it a popular destination for tourists. The capital, Las Palmas, has several beautiful parks and a historic centre with spectacular architecture. There are also fascinating museums including the Christopher Columbus Museum.

Day 10 - Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Tenerife)

Tenerife is the largest island in the Canary archipelago and is overlooked by the imposing Mount Teide. The island's fascinating capital, Santa Cruz, is home to several museums, churches and restaurants. Perhaps visit the exotic gardens of Garcia Sanabria Park or Loro Parque, with its tropical gardens and aquarium.

Day 11 - Funchal (Madeira)

Funchal is the capital of Madeira and set in a spectacular natural ampitheatre. As Columbus approaches, admire the whitewashed buildings with red tiled roofs tumbling down the mountain. A cable car runs above the city to Monte, the start of the wicker toboggan ride. Popular souvenirs include wicker baskets and the famous Madeira wine.

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 13 - Lisbon (Portugal)

The Portuguese capital has a quirky charm and much character. The steep, cobbled streets of the ancient Moorish Alfama district lead to wonderful viewpoints looking over the city. Perhaps enjoy a visit to the unique four-storey Belem Tower fortress, the breathtaking Jeronimos Monastery or the modern Monument to the Discoveries, shaped like the prow of a sailing ship. Lisbon's magnificent harbour is spanned by the longest suspension bridge in Europe.

Days 14-15 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 16 - London Tilbury (UK)

Disembark Columbus in London Tilbury.
