Thousands of species of exotic plants flourish on Scotland's west coast due to the warm climate created by the North Atlantic Drift. This fantastic cruise begins with a visit to the breathtaking Attadale Gardens where magnificent sculptures are nestled in amongst the water gardens and woodland. Continue to the colourful Inverewe Garden on the picturesque shores of Loch Ewe, and the majestic Corrishalloch Gorge and waterfalls.

Discover the restored Edwardian glasshouse and arboretum in the ancient walled garden at Dundonnell House and the stunning garden at neighbouring Durnamuck. Enjoy a visit to the impressive Dunvegan Castle and its five acres of outstanding gardens, before heading to the hidden treasure of Lip na Cloiche nestled on the Isle of Mull. The magical hill garden of Ard Daraich and perfectly sculpted gardens at Ardtornish Estate complete this unique holiday.

Secrets Gardens of Western Scotland Itinerary

Day 1 - Oban (Scotland)

Embark Hebridean Princess in Oban.

Day 2 - Plockton

Hebridean Princess cruises Kyle Rhea, the Sound of Sleat and Loch Hourn, before arriving in Plockton, a beautiful village on the bay of Loch Carron. Enjoy a visit to the colourful Attadale Gardens. Admire the impressive sculptures dotted amongst the water gardens and woodland.

Day 3 - Loch Ewe - Ullapool

Today, you'll explore the breathtaking Inverewe Garden, home to a variety of exotic plants which flourish due to the latitude. It was created in the 1860s by by Osgood Mackenzie and is located on a peninsula on the picturesque shore of Loch Ewe. Later, Hebridean Princess cruises to Ullapool for a visit to the majestic Corrieshalloch Gorge and its cascading waterfalls.

Day 4 - Ullapool

From Ullapool, travel to Little Loch Broom which is home to the magnificent walled garden at Dundonnell House, complete with restored Edwardian glasshouse, arboretum and riverside trial. Continue to neighbouring Durnamuck and its stunning coastal garden which offers a mix of shrubs and trees.

Day 5 - Skye

Arrive in Loch Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye. Enjoy a visit to the impressive Dunvegan Castle and Gardens, home of clan Macleod. It boasts five acres of formal gardens which are a delight to explore. Rejoin Hebridean Princess and cruise south west Skye and the rugged Small Isles.

Day 6 - Mull

Discover the hidden treasure that is Lip na Cloiche, a private garden tucked away in a remote location on the beautiful Isle of Mull. Learn about a variety of different plants, before travelling to Glengorm Castle located on a headland overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Dependent on weather conditions, you may be able to enjoy views of the distant Outer Hebrides.

Day 7 - Fort William

On the shore of Loch Linnhe is Ard Daraich, a beautiful hill garden where you can see thousands of different species of Rhododendrons as well as rare trees. Later, continue to the Ardtornish Estate. Its gardens were built into a rocky hillside which created a natural landscape. Many of the plants were intended to be enjoyed when people approached by sea, with the impressive towers of Ardtornish House rising from a line of trees.

Day 8 - Oban

Disembark Hebridean Princess in Oban.

For navigational reasons the Captain of the ship reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary.
