You may be lucky enough to witness the mesmerising Northern Lights on this incredible no-fly cruise along the rugged Norwegian coastline, which ventures high above the Arctic Circle.

After a call at the lively city of Rotterdam which straddles the River Nieuwe Mass, your ship sets sail for Norway. Stavanger is known as the 'Oil Capital of Norway' and overlooked by an Anglo-Norman style cathedral, while Alesund is renowned for its spectacular Art Nouveau architecture. Almost 220 miles north of the Arctic Circle is Tromso, nicknamed the 'Capital of the Arctic', and home to the iconic Arctic Cathedral.

Enjoy an overnight stop in Alta, where you may be lucky enough to enjoy an amazing display of purple, blue, pink and green light dancing across the night sky. Continue to Honningsvag, gateway to the dramatic North Cape, and Trondheim with its impressive cathedral. Picturesque Andalsnes is the starting point for optional excursions along the magnificent winding Troll Path Road, and Hanseatic Bergen is renowned for its colourful Bryggen wharf.

Norway Coast and Northern Lights Itinerary

Day 1 - London Tilbury (UK)

Embark your ship in London Tilbury.

Day 2 - Rotterdam (Netherlands)

Visit Rotterdam. Rotterdam's architecture is an intriguing mix of old and new. The city was founded in 1328 and today modern glass skyscrapers stand side-by-side with buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Day 3 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 4 - Stavanger (Norway)

Stavanger is a modern city and known as the "Oil Capital of Norway". Explore the picturesque old part with is 18th century wooden houses or admire the impressive Anglo-Norman style cathedral. Optional excursions are available, including a visit to the Iron Age Farm at Ullanhaug.

Day 5 - Ålesund

Alesund was rebuilt in an art nouveau style following a fire in 1904. Admire the magnificent buildings with turrets and towers or walk up the 418 steps to the summit of Mount Aksla for stunning views of the town. The Jugendstilsenteret in the former Swan Pharmacy celebrates Alesund's architectural history.

Day 6 - At Sea

Day 7 - Tromsø

Tromso is located around 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle and lays claim to the world's northernmost university, cathedral and brewery. The cable car ride to the summit of Mount Storsteinen offers stunning views of the city, which is built on two islands. The Arctic Cathedral is one of the landmarks of Tromso and The Polar Museum is just one of the city's museums.

Days 8-9 - Alta

Alta is the largest town in Finnmark and located on the banks of the Alta River, popular for salmon fishing. The town has three centres. Bossekop is traditional, Elvebakken is home to the airport and harbour, and the new town features a variety of shops. Large areas of woodland surround the town which is one of the best places to see the magical Northern Lights.

Day 10 - Honningsvåg

Honningsvaag is one of the smallest cities in Norway and lies on the south-eastern side of Mageroya island in the Barents Sea. It is the starting point of excursions to the dramatic North Cape.

Day 12 - Trondheim

Explore Trondheim, Norways first capital with its low timbered buildings, charming alleys and picturesque wooden bridge. The city is home to the gothic-style Nidaros Cathedral, the nations finest medieval building.

Day 13 - Åndalsnes

Andalsnes is located at the end of Romsdalfjord at the mouth of the Rauma River. The river attracted British aristocrats at the end of the 19th century. Today, it is the administrative centre of Rauma and the start of the Rauma Line, a vintage steam train journey. Perhaps take the optional excursion along the winding Troll Path Road.

Day 14 - Bergen

Known as the ‘Gateway to the Fjords’, Bergen is Norway’s second largest city. Yet with a population of less than a quarter of a million, it has the feel of a small town. It is beautifully sited against a backdrop of seven mountains and the funicular ride to the summit of Mount Fløien affords wonderful panoramic views of Bergen and Norway’s attractive coastline. Overlooking the harbour the colourful Bryggen wharf is the face of Bergen. The characteristic wooden gabled buildings were once the home and offices of Hanseatic merchants but today house shops selling crafts and traditional souvenirs.

Day 16 - London Tilbury (UK)

Disembark your ship in London Tilbury.
