Iceland and Faroes Northern Lights Itinerary

Day 1 - Newcastle (UK)

Embark Marco Polo in Newcastle.

Day 2 - Aberdeen (Scotland)

There is also the option to embark and disembark in Aberdeen.

Day 3 - Lerwick (Shetland Islands)

Lerwick was founded as an unofficial marketplace to service 17th-century Dutch herring fleets. Hay's Dock is home to the Shetland Museum and Archives. On the southern tip of Mainland is the impressive archaeological site of Jarlshof.

Day 4 - Torshavn (Faroe Islands)

Once the site of an annual Viking gathering, Tórshavn is today one of the smallest and most pleasant capital cities in the world. The Faroe Islands have a wild and dramatic landscape, which is a magnificent backdrop to optional excursions showing how islanders live on this remote and unspoiled archipelago.

Day 5 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Days 6-8 - Reykjavik (Iceland)

Reykjavik is one of the world's smallest capital cities and boasts magnificent mosaics, spectacular sculptures and colourful houses. Perhaps visit the classic 'Golden Circle' with its lava fields, bubbling mud pools and impressive geysers on an optional excursion along with the chance to bathe in the famous Blue Lagoon.

Day 9 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 10 - Klaksvik (Faroe Islands)

Colourful fishing boats dot the busy harbour of Klaksvik which is set in beautiful surroundings. Perhaps explore the town's cultural heritage at the Christian's church, where a traditional Faroese boat hangs, or visit the small museum of the northern islands which gives an insight into the daily life of times gone by.

Day 11 - Kirkwall (Orkney Islands)

Kirkwall is the capital of the Orkney archipelago. The spectacular St Magnus Cathedral dominates the town's skyline. Take one of the optional excursions during your time here.

Day 12 - Newcastle (UK)

Disembark Marco Polo in Newcastle.
