Faroes and the Northern Isles Itinerary

Day 1 - Newcastle (UK)

Embark Magellan in Newcastle.

Day 2 - Dundee (Scotland)

Dundee is located on the Firth of Tray estuary and is home to interesting museums, including the RRS Discovery and Verdant Works. The city is the gateway to breathtaking countryside and the seaside suburb of Broughty Ferry. Passengers on 15 May departure will be embarking today.

Day 3 - Kirkwall (Orkney Islands)

Kirkwall is the capital of the Orkney archipelago. The spectacular St. Magnus Cathedral, a legacy of the town’s rich Viking heritage, dominates Kirkwall’s skyline. Perhaps visit the Neolithic standing stones which can be traced back 6,000 years during an optional excursion or explore the magnificent archaeological site of Skara Brae.

Day 4 - Lerwick (Shetland Isles)

Lerwick was founded as an unofficial marketplace to service 17th-century Dutch herring fleets. Hay's Dock is home to the Shetland Museum and Archives. On the southern tip of Mainland is the impressive archaeological site of Jarlshof.

Day 5 - Tórshavn (Faroe Islands)

Torshavn is one of the smallest capital cities in the world and was once the site of an annual Viking gathering. Perhaps explore the old part of the town which boasts characteristic red buildings with turf-covered roofs clustered on a narrow peninsula. The wild and dramatic landscape of the Faroe Islands is a magnificent backdrop to optional excursions showing how islanders live on these remote and unspoilt islands.

Day 6 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 7 - Newcastle (UK)

Disembark Magellan in Newcastle.

Day 8 - Dundee

Passengers on 15 May departure will be disembarking today.
