Circumnavigation of Iceland Itinerary

Day 1 - Portsmouth (UK)

Embark Marco Polo in Portsmouth.

Days 2-3 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities during relaxing days at sea.

Day 4 - Tórshavn (Faroe Islands)

Torshavn is one of the smallest capital cities in the world and was once the site of an annual Viking gathering. Perhaps explore the old part of the town which boasts characteristic red buildings with turf-covered roofs clustered on a narrow peninsula. The wild and dramatic landscape of the Faroe Islands is a magnificent backdrop to optional excursions showing how islanders live on these remote and unspoilt islands.

Day 5 - Seyðisfjörður (Iceland)

With its multicoloured wooden houses surrounded by snow-capped mountains and cascading waterfalls, beautiful Seydisfjordur is one of Iceland’s most historically and architecturally interesting towns.

Day 6 - Akureyri

Akureyri lies just below the Arctic Circle, however the climate here is temperate, allowing Akureyri's Botanical Gardens to provide a home for over 2,000 species of flora from around the world. Optional excursions explore highlight Iceland’s extraordinary landscapes including Skutastadir's lunar-like pseudo-craters and the magnificent Godafoss Waterfall. Alternatively, visit the Laufas Folk Museum or Myvatn Nature Baths.

Day 7 - Ísafjörður

Isafjordur is located just below the Arctic Circle and surrounded by soaring mountains. The Maritime Museum is a great place to learn about the history of the settlement and the importance of the fishing industry. Perhaps take the optional excursion to the island of Vigur, home to a large eider duck colony.

Day 8 - Reykjavík

Reykjavik is one of the world's smallest capital cities and boasts magnificent mosaics, spectacular sculptures and colourful houses. Perhaps visit the classic 'Golden Circle' with its lava fields, bubbling mud pools and impressive geysers on an optional excursion along with the chance to bathe in the famous Blue Lagoon.

Days 9-10 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities during relaxing days at sea.

Day 11 - Cobh (Ireland)

Cobh lies at the mouth of the River Lee and has one of the best natural harbours in the world. See the brightly coloured houses which line the streets from the waterfront and the imposing St Coleman's Cathedral. Cobh is also the gateway to the city of Cork and optional excursions to the legendary Blarney Castle.

Day 12 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 13 - Portsmouth (UK)

Disembark Marco Polo in Portsmouth.
