Canada in the Fall Itinerary

Day 1 - London Tilbury (UK)

Embark Marco Polo in London Tilbury.

Day 2 - At sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 3 - Glengarriff (Republic of Ireland) (at anchor)

The beautiful village of Glengarriff is located in the heart of West Cork. Follow in the footsteps of Wordsworth and discover the area's outstanding natural beauty.

Days 4-7 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board Marco Polo as you spend a relaxing few days at sea.

Day 8 - St. John’s (Newfoundland, Canada)

St. John's is the capital of Newfoundland and for hundreds of years it has played host to explorers, conquerors, marauding pirates and merchant adventurers. It was the location that the first transatlantic wireless telegraph was received. The Signal Hill National Historic Site includes the tower in which Marconi received that message in 1901.

Day 9 - At sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 10 - Halifax (Nova Scotia)

Perhaps visit Halifax's original brewery (one of the oldest in Canada) which welcomes visitors with costumed guides, fascinating stories and good ale, or stroll along the historic boardwalk with its eclectic shops and acclaimed restaurants. Alternatively, explore the oldest continuously operating farmers’ market in Canada and admire the ships in the harbour, including the last of the WWII convoy escort corvettes.

Day 12 - Charlottetown (Prince Edward Islands)

Charlottetown is a perfect example of traditional Canadian charm and was originally settled by the French before falling to the British. The town played an important role in early Canadian history and is called the "Birthplace of Confederation" after the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference which led to Confederation.

Day 13 - Gaspe (Quebec) (at anchor)

The Gaspe Peninsula is one of the world's most beautiful destinations. Famed for its stunning wildlife, Gaspe is perfect for nature lovers; perhaps visit Forillon National Park which is home to thousands of seabirds who migrate from all over the world to nest here.

Day 14 - St. Lawrence River

Enjoy the ship’s facilities whilst cruising the St. Lawrence River.

Day 15 - Montreal

One of Canada’s most exciting cities, Montreal has a strong French heritage with a particularly European feel. The narrow winding streets and tightly packed houses are home to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, as well as the McCord Museum who have a tremendous collection of Canadian art and artifacts.

Days 16-17 - Quebec City

Enjoy an overnight stay in Quebec City, one of North America’s oldest cities and a haven for culture and the arts with 37 National Historic Sites of Canada, numerous museums, theatres and beautiful examples of early Canadian architecture including the legendary Château Frontenac.

Day 18 - Saguenay

Saguenay is located approximately 100km inland along the Saguenay River between the St Lawrence River and the Lac Saint-Jean. This spectacularly beautiful area is also an ideal place to go whale watching, with many different breeds congregating there to feed and mate at various times of the year.

Day 19 - Baie-Comeau

Baie-Comeau is a beautiful city in the province of Quebec. It boasts a variety of interesting sites and attractions, including the impressive Daniel-Johnson Dam, the ornate Eglise Sainte Amelie and the picturesque Parc des Pionniers.

Day 20 - Havre-Saint-Pierre

Havre-Saint-Pierre is a charming town embraced by the spectacular scenery of the Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve. The islands are a captivating array of granite monoliths, soaring cliffs and secluded grottoes, along with an amazing diversity of plant and animal life. Perhaps marvel at the unique seascape during a coastal drive, or take a boating trip to visit several of the islands.

Day 21 - Corner Brook (Newfoundland)

Corner Brook nestles among the Long Range Mountains on the west coast of Newfoundland where the coastline is filled with magnificent fjords, thick forested areas and jagged headlands. Before Captain Cook went on to discover New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii, he learned his skills as a navigator and captain in Newfoundland.

Day 22 - Cap-aux-Meules (Iles de la Madeleine) (at anchor)

Cap-aux-Meules is one of the twelve remote islands that make up the Iles de la Madeleine, known for their beautiful beaches, varied wildlife and striking red and grey cliffs.

Day 23 - Sydney (Nova Scotia) (at anchor)

Set on the rugged coast of Nova Scotia, Sydney is known for its beauty and unique Celtic music and culture. Why not visit the Cape Breton Island Exhibition Centre for an overview of the rich culture and heritage of this historic island, or take an optional trip to the breathtaking Bras d'Or Lake where Alexander Graham Bell lived, worked and studied. Alternatively, explore the largest historic reconstruction in North America, the Fortress of Louisbourg, which brings to vivid life the history of the French North American colonies.

Days 24-28 - At sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 29 - Cobh (Republic of Ireland)

This charming little town has one of the best natural harbours in the world. See the brightly coloured houses which line the steep streets from the waterfront and the imposing St Coleman's Cathedral. Cobh is also the gateway to the city of Cork and optional excursions to the legendary Blarney Castle.

Day 30 - At sea

Relax on board as Marco Polo cruises back to London Tilbury.

Day 31 - London Tilbury (UK)

Disembark Marco Polo in London Tilbury.
