Best of Norway and the Scottish Isles Itinerary

Day 1 - Dundee (Scotland)

Embark Magellan in Dundee.

Day 2 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 3 - Eidfjord (Norway)

This charming town is the gateway to Hardangervidda, Norway’s largest national park. The ‘old’ church in Eidfjord was built in 1309. From here, perhaps visit the stunning Voringfossen waterfall or the amazing Sysen Dam on optional excursions. Later, cruise through the beautiful Hardangerfjord.

Day 4 - Flam

The village of Flam is surrounded by towering mountains and nestled at the head of Aurlandsfjord. In the late 19th century, royals were attracted by the salmon fishing in the Flam River. Today, visitors flock to Flam for the opportunity to ride on the world famous railway, a masterpiece of engineering. Later, cruise Sognefjord.

Day 5 - Bergen

Bergen is beautifully located against a backdrop of seven mountains. Perhaps take the funicular ride to the summit of Mount Floien for panoramic views of Bergen, or explore the traditional wooden buildings of the colourful Bryggen wharf.

Day 6 - Lerwick (Shetland Islands)

Lerwick was founded as an unofficial marketplace to service 17th-century Dutch herring fleets. Hay's Dock is home to the Shetland Museum and Archives. On the southern tip of Mainland is the impressive archaeological site of Jarlshof.

Day 7 - Kirkwall (Orkney Islands)

Kirkwall is the capital of the Orkney archipelago. The spectacular St Magnus Cathedral dominates the town's skyline. Perhaps one of the optional excursions such as a visit to the Neolithic standing stones and the magnificent archaeological site of Skara Brae during your time here.

Day 8 - Portree (Isle of Skye)

Charming Portree is the main town on the beautiful Isle of Skye. On the outskirts of the town, the Skye Heritage Centre and Aros Experience bring the history of the island to life. Skye’s stunning scenery ranges from the soaring peaks of the Cuilins to undulating heather moorland and spectacular lochs. Optional excursions feature crofting villages and iconic castles with both colourful and poignant history.

Day 9 - Tobermory (Isle of Mull)

The picture-postcard village of Tobermory is one of the prettiest ports in Scotland. Its large natural harbour is home to colourful boats bobbing on the waves and a rainbow of brightly painted buildings backed by wooded hills.
