The Beauty Of Brazil Itinerary
Day 1-2 - UK - Buenos Aires (Argentina)
Fly overnight from the UK then embark ship in Buenos Aires. What makes Argentina's capital so fascinating is its dual heritage - part European, part Latin American. Plaza de Mayo resembles a grand square in Madrid, and the ornate Teatro Colón would not be out of place in Vienna.
Days 3-4 - Montevideo (Uruguay)
Enjoy a guided tour of the small capital city of Montevideo. Admire the city's architectural gems such as the Legislative Palace, a glorious neo-classical building and spend some time in Batlle Park, a lovely urban greenscape. Then visit the city’s sprawling farmer’s market for a taste of Uruguayan beer at a local Artisan brewery. Alternatively, join a guided tour to explore two centuries of Jewish influence in Montevideo.
Day 5 - Punta del Este
Punta del Esta is a beautiful beach resorts with charming marinas, museums and fascinating shops. Perhaps discover the cultural side of Punta del Este through a tour of its finest museums and most architecturally rich neighbourhoods. Alternatively, enjoy a wonderfully in-depth tour of Punta del Este and its spectacular coastline with photo stops at the most impressive landmarks and time to explore a classic car museum. This evening, take the opportunity to watch a spectacular sunset from Casapueblo, the legacy of one of Uruguay’s most esteemed artists, who created the quirky hotel using only his imagination for a plan.
Day 6 - Rio Grande (Brazil)
Arrive in Rio Grande in Brazil, a lovely old Portuguese city with gracious squares and amazing churches. Enjoy a guided tour of the city which includes a scenic drive past the elegant and historic buildings in the city's heart. Stroll to the oldest Cathedral of the State, Cathedral Sao Pedro and visit the Museum of Sacred Art at the Chapel of the St. Francisco before exploring the Oceanographic Museum and view its collection of rare and unusual species of invertebrates, fish and molluscs.
Day 7 - Cruising the Atlantic Ocean
Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.
Day 8 - Porto Belo
Discover the quaint fishing village charm and lively beach atmosphere of Porto Belo, tucked at the base of lush mountains on a sparkling emerald bay. Perhaps uncover the beauty of the Camboriu, a village with 80,000 inhabitants and one of the most visited beach resorts of the Santa Catarina State before boarding a Cable Car for a short ride up to the Atlantic Forest station. Here you can wander along ecological trails and then continue on to Laranjeiras station where you can spend some time on the beach. Alternatively, enjoy scenic drive through lush farmland to the town of Blumenau for an insight into the unique ambience and significance of German culture common throughout the region.
Day 9 - São Francisco do Sul
São Francisco do Sul is the third oldest city in Brazil. It has a very beautiful historic waterfront and is famous for its museum, beaches, nature trails and ecological reserves.
Day 10 - Santos
Journey inland to vibrant São Paulo from Santos and see its modern skyscrapers and monuments, and visit the outstanding art museum. Alternatively, head to the lively holiday resort of Santos for a guided tour of the landmark sites. Explore the Coffee Museum which is a former palace with unique architecture and visit the Museum of the Santos Football Club before spending some time strolling through the serene Botanical Gardens.
Day 11 - Ilha Grande
Ilha Grande boasts over 200 gorgeous beaches and historically was a pirates hideaway. Perhaps explore the island's many hiking trails or snorkel amongst the pretty coral reef. You may want to spend the day relaxing on the wonderful beaches.
Day 12 - Buzios
The tiny fishing village of Búzios is considered one of the ten most beautiful spots in the world and became intensely popular after French actress Brigitte Bardot visited here in her heyday. Known as 'Brazil's St Tropez', this little village is now an international resort offering some of South America's most stunning beaches and a number of fine restaurants and posh boutiques.
Day 13 - Rio de Janeiro
Arrive in the colourful city of Rio de Janeiro. Choose to visit the legendary Copacabana Beach, explore Rio on a guided tour, travel up Sugar Loaf Mountain by cable car or explore the Botanical Gardens and the Tijuca National Park forests.
Day 14 - Rio de Janeiro - UK
Disembark after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Day 15 - UK
Arrive back in the UK.
