Cruise from Puerto Quetzal to Curu Wildlife Refuge in Costa Rica for the chance to spot the scarlet macaw and spider monkey. In Manuel Antonio National Park look out for sloths, howler monkeys and white-faced capuchins before spending the day at tranquil Cocos Island, whose amazing ecosystem is home to turtles, manta rays, dolphins and whale sharks.

Visit picturesque Cebaco Island with its white sandy beaches and colourful coral reefs then circumnavigate Pacheca Island in the idyllic Pearl archipelago, named after pearl oysters present in the Gulf of Panama. Fuerte Amador is the next port of call, and located at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. Head to the Miraflores Locks and watch ships make their way along this famous canal.

Discover the remote village of Playa Muerto in the UNESCO-listed Darien National Park, home to the Emberas Amerindian community. Meet the villagers and watch traditional dance performances, before cruising to the dense rainforest of Utria National Park.

Jewels of Latin America Itinerary

Day 1 - Puerto Quetzal (Guatemala)

Embark ship in Puerto Quetzal.

Day 2 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board during a relaxing day at sea.

Day 3 - Curu Wildife Refuge (Costa Rica) - Tortuga Island

Take a short Zodiac trip to the small Curu Wildlife Refuge, the oldest protected park in Costa Rica, for walks through the tropical forest to magnificent beaches. Continue on to Tortuga Island with its idyllic white sandy beaches.

Day 4 - Manuel Antonio National Park

Land by Zodiac on the beaches of Manuel Antonio National Park and enjoy the tropical rainforest which is home to racoons, sloths, howler monkeys and white-faced capuchins.

Day 5 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 6 - Cocos Island

Cocos Island was once a favourite place for pirates to hide their booty, and Jacques-Yves Cousteau called it the most beautiful island in the world. The island is an incredible ecosystem with verdant tropical rainforest, over 200 waterfalls and turquoise-blue waters that are home to turtles, manta rays and whale sharks.

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 8 - Cebaco Island (Panama)

Cebaco Island is located at the entrance to the Gulf of Montijo. It is covered in tropical rainforest and has stunning white sandy beaches. There are numerous hiking routes which showcase the incredible scenery. Its magnificent coral reefs on the edges of UNESCO-listed Coiba National Park are a refuge for marine life.

Day 9 - Pacheca Island (Pearl Islands) - Fuerte Amador (Flamenco Island)

Cruise around Pacheca Island, an uninhabited island situated in the far north of the Pearl Islands, home to an array of birds. The archipelago, made up of over 220 islands and islets, is named after pearl oysters present in the Gulf of Panama. Pearls were extracted and used as ornaments or currency in colonial times. Later, cruise to Fuerte Amador at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. Head to the Miraflores Locks where you can watch the ships make their way along the canal and visit the four exhibition halls.

Day 10 - Playa Muerto (Darien National Park)

UNESCO-listed Darien National Park is an unspoilt paradise, rich in flora and fauna. Board a Zodiac to a local beach and walk a short distance to an Embera Indian Village to meet a local tribe. Watch a series of dance performances and learn about this traditional community.

Day 11 - Utria National Park (Colombia)

Wander through Utria National Park's dense rainforest and mangroves on an elevated boardwalk and perhaps spot humpback whales off the coast on their way to Antarctic waters.

Days 12-13 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 14 - Guayaquil (Ecuador)

Disembark ship in Ecuador.
