Uncover a myriad of design styles on this exploration of Argyll and Bute's ancient castles, stately homes and mature gardens.

Cruise to Finlaystone House, the seat of the current Chief of the Clan MacMillan, ahead of a visit to the neo-Gothic Mount Stuart House which is testament to generations of Stuart passion and flamboyance. Spend a full day at Dumfries House, a stunning Palladian country house that combines the neoclassical architecture of Robert Adam with the furniture of Thomas Chippendale. The imposing Brodick Castle was developed between the 1200s and 1600s, with the later addition of an 1800s stately home wrapped around it.

Visit Strachur House, the residence of Sir Charles and Lady MacLean, and renowned for its flower and woodland gardens, then enjoy a private visit to Ardkinglas House completed in 1907 for Sir Andrew Noble and incorporating the then latest technology. At the iconic Inveraray Castle there is a behind-the-scenes tour before a visit to Hunterston Castle. The final architectural gem is the sumptuous Ardgowan House, held by the Stewart family since the early 15th century.
