Your cruise ship moors in central Venice allowing ample time to explore the city's historic sites - St Mark's Cathedral, the Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, the Grand Canal and Rialto bridge, and to enjoy the atmosphere of this unique city.

MS Michelangelo cruises the Venice lagoon to the fishing port of Chioggia and offers the opportunity to visit some of Italy's best historic sights with optional visits to Padua, Ferrare, Verona and Bologna.

VEB - Venice and Historic Italy Itinerary

Day 1 - Venice (Italy)

Embark your floating hotel, the MS Michelangelo from 6.00pm and settle into your cabin. Enjoy a welcome cocktail before dinner on board, followed by a free evening in Venice.

Day 2 - Venice

After breakfast on board take an optional guided tour of the Doges Palace and St Mark's Square. Return to the ship for lunch, then in the afternoon enjoy an optional sightseeing tour to the islands of Burano, known for its lace, and Murano, famous for its superb glass. Dinner on board and overnight moored in Venice.

Day 3 - Chioggia - Taglio di Po

Enjoy breakfast on board as you cruise to Chioggia, arriving late morning. After lunch on board, set off on our optional guided visit of Padua, the main setting for Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and famous for its art. Meanwhile your floating hotel cruises to Taglio di Po. Back on board for dinner in Taglio di Po. If you choose not to take the optional excursion to Padua, a coach transfer will be organised from Chioggia to Taglio Di Po with a stop in the small town of Adria en route.

Day 4 - Taglio di Po - Polesella

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board as we cruise to Polesella, arriving late morning. After lunch on board, set off by coach on an optional excursion to Bologna. We return on board at Polesella for dinner.

Day 5 - Polesella

After breakfast on board this morning take an optional excursion to discover Ferrara. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a Renaissance town noted for its medieval defences. This afternoon set off by coach for an optional excursion to Verona. In 2019, there is a second optional excursion - Verona by bike and the Gusti Gardens. After the excursions rejoin the MS Michelanglo in Chioggia for dinner.

Day 6 - Venice

Arrived in Venice early morning and have breakfast before setting off on foot for guided visit of the Castello District, a popular yet authentic medieval district full of antique shops and fine religious buildings. We continue our search for the hidden Venice through the old quarters, arriving at the Basilica of Santi Giovanni e Paolo, which is the largest Gothic building in Venice housing masterpieces by Bellini. In 2019, there is a second optional excursion - a walking tour of the Dorsoduro district. Gala dinner this evening.

Day 7 - Venice

After breakfast on board, disembark in Venice around 9am.
