Gems of Northern Italy Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Milan (Italy)

Fly from the UK to Milan and transfer to the hotel for a 2-night stay.

Day 2 - Milan

Milan is the fashion capital of the world, and is also famous for its breathtaking architecture. Join the city tour to discover the city's Gothic Duomo then admire Leonardo da Vinci’s magnificent work of art, The Last Supper, at the Santa Maria delle Grazie convent.

Day 3 - Milan - Verona - Venice

Travel from Milan to the romantic city of Verona, home to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Enjoy a delicious lunch and exclusive tasting at a Valpolicella wine estate then continue to Venice and embark River Countess.

Day 4 - Venice

Stroll through the heart of Venice for an close-up look at legendary landmarks including the Doge’s Palace and the Rialto Bridge. Watch a fascinating Murano glassmaking demonstration at a glass factory and enjoy an exclusive after-hours visit to St Mark's Basilica, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Back on board there is a Captain’s Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner. Please note: St Mark's Basilica evening visit may not always be possible due to religious functions or festivities. If this is the case, we will visit during regular hours.

Day 5 - Chioggia or Padua

Enjoy spectacular views of Venice and the Grand Canal as the ship departs. Explore the medieval walled city of Padua on a guided walking tour, with highlights including Palazzo della Ragione and the vast 13th-century Basilica of St. Anthony. Alternatively, join the walking discovery tour of Chioggia or explore the town's beaches on a guided bike tour.

Day 6 - Polesella (Bologna or Ferrara)

Spend the whole day on an excursion to Bologna, a food-lover's paradise, and join an exclusive pasta-making workshop where you can learn to make your own Italian pasta followed by a delicious lunch at a renowned restaurant. Alternatively, art-lovers will enjoy the half-day excursion to Ferrara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a long history of art. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Taglio di Po

Visit the colourful fishing village of Chioggia on the Venice Lagoon. Explore the fish market with a guide or visit a casoni (fisherman's hut on stilts) to learn the art of mussel harvesting.

Day 8 - Burano - Mazzorbo - Torcello

Spend a full day exploring the Venice Lagoon and three of its beautiful islands. Discover Burano, famous for its colourful houses and lace making tradition, before heading to Mazzorbo for a special wine tasting. Torcello is home to the mosaic-clad Byzantine cathedral of the Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta, Venice's oldest.

Day 9 - Venice

Experience daily life in Venice on a guided walking tour through the Rialto Market, or perhaps head to the Accademia Gallery with an art historian guide. This evening, enjoy the Captain's Farewell Reception and Gala Dinner on board.

Day 10 - Venice - UK

Disembark River Countess and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
