Ghent is just a stone's throw from UNESCO-listed Bruges, one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. Enjoy a canal boat tour to discover why the city is often called the 'Venice of the North', before returning to Ghent where you'll spend your final day. Enjoy a visit to St Bavo's Cathedral which houses an array of artistic treasures, including a work by Rubens and the world-famous Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, painted by Hubert and Jan van Eyck.

Tulip Time in the Low Lands Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Amsterdam (Holland)

Fly from London Heathrow to Amsterdam or travel by train from St Pancras to Brussels, then transfer to Amsterdam, where you'll embark your ship.

Day 2 - Amsterdam

Our cruise begins in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam. In the heart of the city, on the Keizersgracht, is the former residence of the Amsterdam regent family, Van Loon. The house has been converted into a living museum with paintings and photographs charting the history of the Van Loon family. Admire admiring one of the finest canal houses in Amsterdam, enjoy a private reception in the formal garden. The National Maritime Museum documents 500 years of maritime history and is located in a former national naval warehouse.

Day 3 - Utrecht - Keukenhof Gardens

A highlight of this cruise is a visit to Keukenhof Gardens to see the blooming tulips and other flowers. There are over 70 acres of gardens and parkland with incredible displays, shimmering lakes and water gardens. Prepare to be overwhelmed by a spectacle of colour.

Day 4 - Kinderdijk - Schoonhoven

This morning, enjoy a visit to UNESCO-listed Kinderdijk, home to the largest concentration of windmills in the world, dating back to the 1740s. They were built to keep the low-lying lands of the Alblasserwaard dry, and during your visit you'll learn how the Dutch have been using water to their benefit for over 1000 years. After lunch, enjoy a walking tour of Schoonhoven with its well-preserved medieval areas and beautiful canals. It is also renowned for its silver tradition and has been home to gold and silversmiths since the Middle Ages. See this traditional art at the Dutch Silver Museum.

Day 5 - Rotterdam

Rotterdam is renowned for its architecture. The city centre was partly rebuilt following World War II. See the Erasmus Bridge, the soaring Euromast and the modern skyscrapers along the Wilhelminakade pier, superb examples of the city's architecture. Rotterdam has a rich maritime history which dates back centuries and is home to the largest port in Europe. Board an iconic Spido boat and travel along the River Mass and Port of Rotterdam through the shipyards and docks of Rotterdam's Scheepvaartkwartier.

Day 6 - Ghent (Belgium)

From Ghent, head to UNESCO-listed Bruges, one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. Board a canal boat and see why the city is often referred to as the 'Venice of the North'. The tour of the centre takes in medieval houses and churches, as well as the main market square with its 13th-century belfry. Bruges is renowned for its chocolate and home to over 50 passionate chocolatiers. Enjoy a taste of the traditional chocolate or spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 7 - Ghent

Today, the medieval centre of Ghent awaits. The old city has beautiful alleyways lined with stunning buildings.Your tour takes in the impressive St Bavo's Cathedral which houses work by Rubens and the world-famous Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, painted by Hubert and Jan van Eyck. The ship sets sail from Ghent around lunchtime. Spend the final afternoon sailing the Belgian waterways en route to Antwerp.

Day 8 - Antwerp - UK

Disembark your ship and transfer to the airport or train station for your return journey to the UK.
