Transfer from the airport to the Hotel Phoenix Copenhagen for an overnight stay. Explore the city's museums and art galleries at leisure this afternoon before a Welcome Reception at historic Odd Fellows Hall, accompanied by art historian Till-Holger Borchert and the Tour Manager.

Day 2 - Copenhagen

After breakfast travel to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art which features a wide range of genres including architecture, photography and film. Explore the exhibits, wander through the open-air sculpture garden and enjoy lunch before returning to Copenhagen to embark Le Dumont d'Urville later this afternoon.

Day 3 - Kiel Canal

Enjoy the ship’s facilities during a relaxing transit of the fascinating Kiel Canal.

Day 4 - Harlingen (Holland)

Harlingen was once a whale fishing centre and has transformed into a modern city which also offers travellers a range of museums and sites of interest. The local museum, the Hannemahuis, is housed in an 18th-century dwelling with a collection of regional furniture and objects that traces the city's history. The lighthouse and the city hall also offer typically Dutch architecture.

Days 5-6 - Amsterdam

The Dutch capital of Amsterdam is charming and quirky. Magnificent gabled houses and merchants' mansions line the picturesque canals and highlights include the Royal Palace in the centre of the city and many world-class museums including Anne Frank House. There is the chance to join a specially-designed optional excursion to the magnificent Rijksmuseum, home to over 8000 works of art by famous artists including Vermeer and Van Gogh. There is a private after-hours tour and reception at the Stedelijk Museum which is dedicated to modern and contemporary art and design.

Day 7 - Antwerp (Belgium)

Antwerp has a remarkable architectural heritage with its UNESCO-listed Notre-Dame Cathedral, which can be visited on an optional excursion to view Rubens’ masterpieces. The city's museums uncover the history of Antwerp, including the home of Rubens, containing the works of the painter, and the UNESCO-listed Plantin-Moretus museum, a print works and publishing house. Admire the unusual medieval architecture of the guild houses in the city's central square.

Day 8 - Ostend

Ostend is a favourite summer destination for Belgians, with its fine white sands and seafront boasting sumptuous facades from the Belle Epoque. Art lovers will enjoy the excellent Kunstmuseumaan Zee, where there is a display of Belgian art dating from 1830. There is an optional excursion to see Michelangelo’s Madonna in Bruges.
