Kiev to the Black Sea Itinerary
Day 1 - UK - Kiev (Ukraine)
Fly from the UK to Kiev, and transfer to your ship. After boarding, enjoy free time before dinner or join a welcome walk. (D)
Day 2 - Kiev
Enjoy a tour of Kiev, the capital of the Ukraine which has a strong heritage. Explore its historic buildings and monuments, and enjoy a visit to the majestic UNESCO-listed St. Sophia Cathedral. Later, head to the Monastery of Caves, a fascinating complex of domed churches and museums. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure or join the optional Jewish Kiev tour to learn about one of the city's darkest chapters. This evening, perhaps dine at a traditional restaurant. (B,L,D)
Day 3 - Kiev
Discover the interesting Pirogovo Folk Museum which houses a fascinating collection of wooden structures from throughout the Ukraine. Each building reflects a different region and period from the country's past which is brought to life by exhibits. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or take the opportunity to discover the story of the World's worst nuclear accident at The National Museum Chernobyl. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - Cruise the Dnieper River
Enjoy the ship’s facilities and relax as you cruise the Dneiper River towards your next destination. (B,L,D)
Day 5 - Zaporozhye
After breakfast, disembark for a guided tour of Zaporozhye, the ancestral home of the Cossacks. Enjoy a drive along Cathedral Prospect taking in the dam and hydroelectric plant. After lunch, visit the Cossack Museum of Khortitsa where you'll watch a Cossack horsemanship show accompanied by folkloric music and dance. Back on board, enjoy dinner followed by onboard activities as we depart. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - Kherson
Admire the passing scenery as you cruise along the Dnieper River before arriving in Kherson. Enjoy a tour which begins with a walk along the river embankment taking in the monument to Prince Potemkin and majestic St Catherine's Cathedral. Dinner on board as you cruise towards the Black Sea. (B,L,D)
Day 7 - Odessa
Join a half-day tour of Odessa. Head along the Primorski Boulevard to the magnificent baroque Opera House and Potemkin Steps, which featured in the film, The Battleship Potemkin. After lunch, perhaps enjoy an optional visit to explore Jewish Odessa or savour the taste of Shustov cognac during an optional museum tour and tasting. This evening, attend a performance at the Odessa Opera House, considered one of the world’s most beautiful venues. (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Odessa
Enjoy a guided tour of the Odessa Art Museum before returning to your ship for lunch. This evening, you may opt for a traditional Ukrainian dinner at a local restaurant. (B,L,D)
Day 9 - Odessa
After breakfast, travel to the Odessa Catacombs, a fascinating maze of underground tunnels used by smugglers and Soviet partisans during World War II. This afternoon, set sail for Tulcea. (B,L,D)
Day 10 - Tulcea (Romania) - Bucharest
Arrive in Tulcea and disembark your ship. Then, enjoy a panoramic drive through the pretty Romanian countryside and stop in the ancient city of Constanta for lunch before heading on to Bucharest. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a dinner at leisure. (B,L)
Day 11 - Bucharest
See the Romanian Athenaeum, the Arch of Triumph and the People’s Palace during a guided tour of this buzzing capital city before visiting the Stavropoleus Monastery which celebrates Byzantine music and houses the largest collection of Byzantine music books in Romania. (B)
Day 12 - Bucharest - UK
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (B)
