Imperial Waterways of Russia 2018 Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Moscow (Russia)

Travel to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport for your scheduled British Airways or other leading airline flight to Moscow. Meet your representative on arrival and transfer to your ship, the River Victoria. (D)

Day 2 - Moscow

Enjoy a panoramic city tour. Following lunch downtown, take a tour of Moscow's metro system. Visit Arbat Street and spend time at leisure. Shuttle bus service will be provided between the ship and city centre. In the evening, there is a Captain's Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Moscow

Enjoy a visit to the Kremlin with its palaces, armouries, 15th and 17th century cathedrals. You’ll also visit the Kremlin’s Armoury Museum which is home to many treasures, from the czars’ coronation robes to the famous Fabergé eggs. A shuttle bus service will be provided between the ship and the city centre. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Moscow

Spend the full day at your leisure, perhaps returning to the sights you saw on your guided tour. A shuttle bus service will be provided between the ship and the city centre. (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Uglich

Cruise the Moscow Canal before arriving in Uglich, a Golden Ring city. Visit the impressive Church of St Dimitri before spending time at leisure to explore the local shops and stalls. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - Yaroslavl

Explore Yaroslavl, considered one of Russia's most beautiful cities. Visit the spectacular Church of Elijah the Prophet with its 17th-century frescoes. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Goritsy

Enjoy a visit to the Children's House of Arts and Crafts and stroll the grounds of 14th-century St Cyrill of the White Lake Monastery. (B,L,D)

Day 8 - Kizhi

Visit the Open Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing the magnificent Church of Transfiguration, constructed out of wood without a single nail. (B,L,D)

Day 9 - Mandrogi

Visit the reconstructed 18th-century village of Mandrogi which brings Russia's past to life. Inside its wooden houses, craftsman fashion matryoshkas, the famous nesting dolls. Enjoy a traditional shashlik picnic lunch. (B,L,D)

Day 10 - St. Petersburg

Take a panoramic city tour of St Petersburg with highlights including the Nevsky Prospect and the Church of the Resurrection. Afterwards, enjoy a canal cruise. This evening, be treated to a Russian ballet performance. (B,L,D)

Day 11 - St. Petersburg

Travel to the Pushkin to visit the impressive Catherine Palace and Park, a luxurious rococo masterpiece. (B,L,D)

Day 12 - St. Petersburg

Take a tour of the Winter Palace's world-famous Hermitage Museum, featuring nearly three million works of art. This evening, enjoy a Captain's Farewell Reception and Gala Dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 13 - St. Petersburg - UK

Disembark your ship, the River Victoria and transfer to St. Petersburg Airport for your British Airways or other leading airline flight home. (B)

Spend a day at leisure exploring this fascinating city.

Day 4 - Uglich

Cruise the 80-mile Moscow Canal to Uglich, a beautiful Golden Ring City. Enjoy a guided walking tour taking in the Church of St Dimitry on the Blood.

Day 5 - Yaroslavl

Yaroslavl has a well-preserved UNESCO-listed city centre. Admire the Orthodox church of Elijah the Prophet and the lively outdoor market, before enjoying a scenic cruise across Lake Rybinsk.

Day 6 - Goritsy

Goritsy is a farming settlement on the Sheksna River. Today you will travel to the banks of Lake Siverskoye where the monastery of St Cyril has stood for centuries. You'll also explore the small community nearby to gain a unique perspective on everyday life.

Day 7 - Kizhi Island

On your approach to Kizhi Island, admire the wooden Church of Transfiguration, built without a single nail. Step ashore and visit the island's famous open-air museum and traditional wooden structures.

Day 8 - Mandrogi

Travel back in time during a visit to the reconstructed Russian village of Mandrogi inhabited by talented artisans. Other highlights include a rustic shashlik picnic lunch and a cruise across a stunning freshwater lake.

Day 9 - St Petersburg

See the sights of St Petersburg during a panoramic city tour and canal cruise. Admire the Nevsky Prospect, St Isaac's Cathedral and the Church of Our Savior on Blood, before boarding a canal boat for a cruise down the Fontanka and Moika rivers.

Day 10 - St Petersburg

Today you'll discover the grandeur of Catherine Palace including the Amber Room, Rastrelli's masterpiece and the beautiful neoclassical rooms designed by Catherine the Great's favourite architect. Later, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 11 - St Petersburg

Spend your last day in St Petersburg at the Hermitage Museum, a former residence of the tsars. Discover the impressive works of art during your time here.

Day 12 - St Petersburg - UK

Disembark and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
