Join this excellent value cruise from Amsterdam to Basel visiting the highlights of Holland, Germany and Switzerland and offering optional excursions to the Black Forest, Lake Titisee and the spectacular Rhine Falls and Lake Constance.

This magnificent journey begins in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, know as the 'Venice of the North' thanks to its impressive network of canals. A full day here allows time at leisure to explore this fascinating city, perhaps visit the Van Gogh Museum or enjoy a scenic canal tour.

Cruise to Xanten in Germany where there is an optional trip to the town of Aachem with its historic UNESCO World Heritage listed cathedral before arriving Cologne. In Cologne take an optional guided city tour and visit the infamous gothic cathedral.

Spend an evening moored in Koblenz, one the oldest and most beautiful towns in Germany before continuing along the majestic Rhine river past the legendary Lorelei Rock to Mainz where there is an opportunity to visit the Gutenburg museum.

Arrive in the picturesque Alsace area of France and visit Strasbourg with its beautiful Petite France quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage listed site. After cruise to Breisach in Switzerland where this fabulous and unique itinerary offers optional excursions to the beautiful Black Forest region, Lake Titisee, with its majestic backdrop and crystal clear waters and the spectacular Lake Constance and Rhine Falls.

Day 1 - Amsterdam (Holland)

Board late afternoon. Enjoy a welcome drink before dinner on board. Remain in port overnight.

Day 2 - Amsterdam

Today there is an optional guided tour of Amsterdam. Discover the past of this fascinating city, also known as the 'Venice of the North' thanks to its network of canals. A second optional excursion explores the city by bike. This afternoon explore at leisure or take the optional excursion to Keukenhof Gardens (open from mid-March to mid-May) or Haarlem in the other months. Cruise overnight to Wesel.

Day 3 - Emmerich - Wesel - Dusseldorf

Cruise through the morning past the cities of Nijmegen and Arnhem, entering the River Rhine into Germany. Perhaps take the optional tour to the open-air museum in Arnhem and rejoin the ship in Xanten. Cruise to Dusseldorf.

Day 4 - Dusseldorf - Cologne - Konigswinter - Koblenz

Depart early morning for Cologne where there is an optional walking tour of the city. See the magnificent Gothic Cologne Cathedral, which took over 500 years to complete, and stroll through the old town stopping at the famous Eau de Cologne neo-Gothic building. Rejoin the ship and cruise along the Rhine to Koblenz. Perhaps stroll through the town at leisure this evening.

Day 5 - Koblenz - Mainz - Worms

Cruise along the Rhine early morning, past the legendary Lorelei Rock towards Mainz. There is an optional tour of Mainz this afternoon visiting the Gutenberg Museum (closed on Mondays). This world-famous museum houses the Gutenberg Bible, the first major book printed with movable type in the west. A second optional excursion explores the Rhineland vineyards. Cruise during the night to Strasbourg.

Day 6 - Strasbourg (France) - Breisach (Switzerland)

Arrive in Strasbourg early morning and explore this European capital on an optional tour. See the German quarter and the European Parliament, the Petite France quarter which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the impressive cathedral. There is a second optional excursion available - a bird's eye view of Strasbourg from the top of the impressive cathedral. Cruise towards Breisach this afternoon.

Day 7 - Breisach - Basel

This morning, join an optional guided tour of Breisach and wine tasting, or take the guided tour of Colmar and the Unterlinden Museum. Later, cruise to Basel.

Day 8 - Basel

There is an optional guided visit of the ancient medieval town of Basel. In the afternoon, perhaps take the optional excursion to the magnificent Rhine Falls. There is also the opportunity to take a guided hike to the Rhine Falls. Overnight in port.

Day 9 - Basel

Enjoy breakfast on board before disembarking.
