Day 1 - Luxembourg
Embark AmaDante in Luxembourg. Tonight here is a Welcome Dinner on board. (D)
Day 2 - Trier (Germany) - Bernkastel
Uncover Trier's long history with a walking tour of the city to see the ancient Porta Nigra gate, the Basilica and the Cathedral. Alternatively, hike to Petrisberg Hill for spectacular views of the city. This afternoon, sail on to Bernkastel for a guided walking tour of the old town centre and visit a winery for a wine tasting. Or perhaps trek to the ruins of Landshut Castle which dates back to the 9th century. (B,L,D)
Day 3 - Cochem - Lahnstein
Enjoy a guided tour of Cochem which includes a trip to the hilltop Reichsburg Castle for superb views and stroll through the Old Town. Alternatively, explore the Bundesbank Bunker and get a closer look at this Cold War-era bank vault. Later, sail along the Moselle to Lahnstein and enjoy a visit to Lahneck Castle. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - Rudesheim
Sail through the fascinating Rhine Gorge past the famous Lorelei Rock to Rudesheim where you can sample the region's fine wines at a local vintner. Alternatively take a gondola ride to the Niederwalddenkmal Statue or cycle along the Rhine river on a guided bike tour. Later there will be free time to explore the Drosselgasse before an evening visit to Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, home to the best collection of self-playing musical instruments or a tasting of traditional Rudesheimer coffee. Day 5 - Ludwigshafen
From Ludwigshafen, choose from an array of excursions. Take a trip to the medieval city of Heidelberg to see the red-walled castle and its Great Vat, or tour the ornate Schwetzingen Palace and Gardens. Alternatively, get active with a hike up the historic Philosopher's Path or join a guided bike tour along the Neckar River to Ladenburg. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - Strasbourg
Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region. Enjoy a guided tour by coach or bike and see the city's highlights including the Orangery, the European Parliament and the famous Astronomical Clock. After there is a walking tour of the pretty La Petite France district, or the more active may wish to join the hike through the city. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure. (B,L,D)
Day 7 - Breisach
Today choose to take a walking tour of the picturesque town of Riquewihr or visit Breisach, home to one of Europe's largest wine cellars, or historic Freiburg. The more active can enjoy a guided bike tour through the Rheinau woods. Later, cruise to Basel where there will be time to explore at leisure. (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Basel (Switzerland)
After breakfast, disembark AmaDante in Basel. (B)
