This cruise along the River Rhine travels through the most picturesque scenery of the Rhine Valley, with visits to some of its most fascinating riverside ports in Germany and Holland
Departing from Amsterdam, there is the opportunity to see the famous windmills of Kinderdijk and the excellent Kroller Muller Museum in Nijmegen which displays paintings by Van Gogh, Picasso and the Impressionists.
Take a tour of the historic city of Cologne and see its massive Cathedral and Old Town before cruising the Rhine river past romantic castles, riverside villages and hillsides of vines to Koblenz, where the River Mosel meets the Rhine, for overnight.
From Koblenz sail the scenic Rhine past the Lorelei rock to the riverside wine village of Rudesheim and its many attractions. Turning north, cruise to the old riverside town of Boppard, formerly a Roman fort, for an overnight stop.
There are tempting shops to browse in Dusseldorf and a pleasant river-side promenade - perhaps visit the Burgplatz and take coffee in the old castle tower. With an afternoon and an evening to explore Amsterdam's many attractions, including the Flower Market and the Rijksmuseum, disembark your river cruise ship the following morning.

ADA - Romantic Rhine and Holland cruise from Amsterdam
Day 1 - Amsterdam (Netherlands)
Embark your ship in Amsterdam around 6pm and settle into your cabin. There will be an introduction to the crew over a welcome cocktail. Dinner on board is followed by an optional tour of the old town of Amsterdam by canal boat.
Day 2 - Kinderdijk - Rotterdam - Nijmegen
Arrive in Kinderdijk early this morning and have buffet breakfast on board. An optional excursion visits the windmills of Kinderdijk. Kinderdijk has the largest concentration of windmills in the world, and was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1997. Return on board and continue en route to Nijmegen. Depending on the tide, pass the port of Rotterdam and the town of Spijkenisse. Dinner on board is followed by an evening's entertainment.
Day 3 - Nijmegen - Cologne (Germany)
After breakfast on board, explore independently or join an optional excursion to the Kroller Muller Museum. Set in the Hoge Veluwe National Park, it has a fine collection of 19th and 20th century paintings and sculptures - Van Gogh's work is displayed along with that of Picasso and the Impressionists. There is a second optional excursion - a guided bike ride through the beautiful Hoge Veluwe National Park. Back on board for lunch, cruise towards Cologne. Dinner will be followed by entertainment.
Day 4 - Cologne - Koblenz
Arrive in Cologne early this morning where there is an optional guided visit of the city. It is the capital of the Rhine region and has a magnificent Gothic cathedral with twin spires. In the Old Town, see the Town Hall, Jewish Quarter and the Romanesque Great St Martin church. After lunch on board, cruise towards Koblenz. Situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, Koblenz is more than 2000 years old and has many ancient monuments and historic buildings.
Day 5 - Koblenz - Rudesheim - Boppard
This morning is spent cruising towards Rudesheim through the Rhine Valley. Along the banks, see fortified castles and medieval villages set amongst vineyards and pass the famous Lorelei Rock. Arriving in Rudesheim there is an optional excursion by tourist train, and a tasting of famous regional wines, plus a tour of Siegfried's Mechanical Music Museum. There is a second excursion excursion to the vineyards in Rudesheim. After dinner, arrive in the old Imperial town of Boppard where there is a guided visit.
Day 6 - Boppard - Dusseldorf
Early this afternoon, arrive in Dusseldorf, renowned for its fashion and trade fairs. An optional guided tour of the city is available. There is a second optional tour of Dusseldorf and the Rheinturm. Dusseldorf straddles both banks of the Rhine - discover the upmarket shopping area of Konigsallee, the Old Town or 'Alstadt'.
Day 7 - Dusseldorf - Amsterdam (Netherlands)
Arrive in Amsterdam early this afternoon, where there is an optional excursion to Keukenhof Gardens (mid-march to mid-may). This afternoon, take the optional tour of Amsterdam, known as the 'Venice of the North' or there is also an optional bike tour of Amsterdam available. With an overnight mooring, there is time to explore independently this evening. Gala dinner and evening entertainment.
Day 8 - Amsterdam
After breakfast, disembark at around 9am.
