Cruise through France, Switzerland and Germany and discover natural wonders with hiking and walking programmes for all abilities. Non-hikers can enjoy excursions to the Rhine Falls and along the Alsatian Wine Route.

From Basel hikers can enjoy walking in the foothills of Blauenberg or along the French-Swiss border, and non-hikers can join the excursion to spectacular Rhine Falls. Enjoy a full-day hike through the Kaiserstuhl hills for amazing views of the surrounding vineyards and the Rhine, or the less active can explore Breisach then visit Colmar and the Unterlinden Museum.

Hike through forests up to the Chateau de Bernstein and Ortenbourg Castle, two medieval architectural masterpieces, or join the more relaxing excursion along the Wine Route in Alsace for a tasting at a local wine cellar. Enjoy an urban hike through Strasbourg and along the city's greenway or join the less strenuous walking tour of the Petite France neighbourhood followed by a visit to Strasbourg Cathedral.

SBA: Cruise and Hike Along the Rhine Itinerary

Day 1 - Strasbourg (France)

Board the ship at 6pm in Strasbourg. Meet the crew over a welcome cocktail and enjoy dinner while the ship departs for Basel. Evening of on-board entertainment as the ship cruises through the night.

Day 2 - Basel (Switzerland)

Cruise the Grand Canal of Alsace to reach Basel at lunchtime.
Hikers' Programme: Hike in the foothills of Blauenberg or along the French-Swiss border through wooded and rolling hills which offer some great views. Length 2 - 3 hours, 5 - 6 miles, elevation gain 120m - 200m.
Non-hikers' Programme: Join the excursion to the spectacular Rhine Falls, overlooked by Laufen Castle.
Tonight's dinner will be followed by an evening of dancing on board. During the night, the ship leaves for Breisach.

Day 3 - Breisach (Germany)

Hikers' Programme: Enjoy a full day hike through the once-volcanic Kaiserstuhl hills, with picnic lunch, to see natural wonders and amazing views of the surrounding vineyards and the Rhine. Length 7 hours, 8.6 miles, 885 feet elevation gain.
Non-hikers' Programme: Spend some free time exploring the lovely German city of Breisach this morning then visit Colmar and the Unterlinden Museum.
Enjoy an evening of entertainment on board.

Day 4 - Breisach - Rhinau

Relax on board this morning whilst cruising to Rhinau.
Hikers' Programme: Hike to the medieval Château de Bernstein and Ortenbourg Castle across the Vosges Mountains, leaving from the old city of Dambach-La-Ville. Length 3 hours, 6.2 miles, 1082 feet elevation gain.
Non-hikers' Programme: Join the excursion along the Wine Route in Alsace to discover the region's wines and its seven grape varieties while travelling through picturesque villages with half-timbered houses, enchanting fountains and wine presses, with a stop at a local cellar for wine tasting.
Enjoy an evening of entertainment on board.

Day 5 - Strasbourg (France)

The ship departs early this morning for Strasbourg.
Hikers' Programme: Hike through the historic city of Strasbourg past its architectural treasures and walk along part of Strasbourg's Ceinture Verte, a former defence system for the city that has been transformed into natural space along the waterways. Length 4 hours, 4.9 miles, level walking.
Non-hikers' Programme: Enjoy a guided walking tour of the beautiful Petite France neighborhood then visit Strasbourg Cathedral, widely considered to be among the finest examples of high-Gothic architecture.
This afternoon sail past picturesque village in northern Alsace. Visit Seebach, one of the most picturesque villages in France, and Cleebourg where there is a visit to a local wine cellar for a tasting of the region's unique wines. Return on board for tonight's Gala dinner and evening.

Day 6 - Strasbourg

Disembark at 9am after breakfast.

For navigational reasons the Captain of the ship reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary.
