In Nuremberg tour the Imperial Castle and visit the Nuremberg Documentation Centre. Enjoy a walking tour of Bamberg and sample some of its famous beers then head to Rothenburg along Germany's Romantic Road.

Explore the Franconian town of Miltenberg then tour the important wine town of Mainz ahead of a wine tasting at the ancient Eberbach Monastery. Cruise through the outstanding beauty of the Rhine Gorge to the 14th-century Burg Namedy for an exclusive banquet dinner in the castle's Great Hall. Bavaria to the Moselle Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Regensburg (Germany)

Fly from London Heathrow to Munich then transfer to Regensburg to board your ship, Royal Crown.

Day 2 - Kelheim

From Kelheim join a small boat trip through the Danube Gorge to Weltenburg to sample monks' beer at Weltenburg Abbey, founded in 620 AD and believed to be the oldest monastery in Bavaria. This afternoon relax on board as you sail the Main-Danube canal to Nuremberg.

Day 3 - Nuremberg

Tour the Imperial Castle, an important fortified palace of the Old Holy Roman Empire then visit the Nuremberg Trial Documentation Centre in the unfinished Congress Hall.

Day 4 - Bamberg

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bamberg on foot to see its 11th-century Romanesque cathedral and muralled Altes Rathaus then sample some of the famous local beers.

Day 5 - Rothenburg

Relax on board this morning before travelling along Germany’s famous Romantic Road to the outstanding architecture of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Explore the town's beautifully preserved streets and the ancient fortress that surrounds the historic centre.

Day 6 - Miltenberg

This morning sail to the delightful Franconian town of Miltenberg for a guided walking tour which features the magnificent half-timbered buildings, the Old Market Place and the Gasthaus zum Riesen, Germany’s oldest royal inn.

Day 7 - Mainz

Take a guided walking tour of Mainz, Germany’s most important wine town, to see its half-timbered houses and Baroque churches. Next, travel to the Eberbach Monastery to learn more about the art of wine making which has been a tradition at Eberbach since Cistercian times.

Day 8 - Rhine Gorge - Koblenz

Admire the ever-changing vistas as Royal Crown cruises the UNESCO-listed Rhine Gorge overlooked by fairytale castles and terraced vineyards. At Burg Namedy, a 14th-century moated castle, you may be greeted by the Princess of Hohenzollern. Enjoy a stroll through the superb gardens before an exclusive reception and a sumptuous banquet dinner in the Great Hall.

Day 9 - Cochem

Sail along the Moselle to Cochem for a tour of the medieval Reichsburg Castle. Admire the imposing battlements, impressive Knight’s Hall, Dining Hall and Trophy Room then sample the region’s excellent wines.

Day 10 - Bernkastel

Head to Bernkastel in the heart of the Moselle wine-producing region which has been producing wine for over 500 years. Explore the town on foot to see the medieval and Renaissance buildings before enjoying a winery visit to sample regional vintages.

Day 11 - Trier

Germany’s oldest city is home to the Roman gate of Porta Nigra and the cathedral which houses the Holy Robe, the garment said to have been worn by Jesus at his crucifixion. This afternoon there is free time to explore the city at leisure.

Day 12 - Trier - UK

After breakfast, disembark and transfer to Luxembourg airport for your return flight to London Heathrow.
