Music Cities of the Mississippi - Memphis to Nashville
Day 1 - UK - Graceland (Tennessee, USA)
Fly London to Memphis, private transfer to 4-star The Guest House at Graceland.
Day 2 - Graceland
Today you will immerse yourself in the world of Elvis, enjoy a Graceland Mansion tour, plus explore exhibits showcasing Elvis’ career, his automobiles, his wardrobe, his gold records, his custom jets, and much more from the Graceland Archives.
Day 3 - Memphis
You will make your own way across Memphis to The Peabody your base for the next two nights. Today you will have tickets for Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum & Memphis Music Hall of Fame both are on the “Must Visit” list of any Memphis Music Pilgrimage.
Day 4 - Memphis
Enter into the heart of the American story at the National Centre for Civil Rights Museum, where your guide will take you on an hour tour. Learn about the legacy of Memphis in the struggle for Civil Rights, and see the Lorraine Motel - now part of the museum - where Dr King was assassinated in 1968.
Day 5 - Memphis
Transfer to American Cruise Lines embarkation hotel in Memphis, where you will complete your embarkation records, before being transferred to American Jazz.
Day 6 - Mississippi & Ohio River
Enjoy the idyllic countryside of the Ohio River and the wonder of the mighty Mississippi that inspired Mark Twain. The Ohio River was pivotal in the development and exploration of the American West and along the way crew will highlight much that has defined the American roots from the Civil War to bluegrass music.
Day 7 - Paducah (Kentucky)
Today you can enjoy one of the complimentary excursions, choose between the River Discovery Centre or Paducah City Excursion & National Quilt Museum.
Day 8 - Lake Barkley
Admire the picturesque scenery of America's Heartland, including the Kentucky Lakes and rolling landscape of 170,000 acres of protected forest. Experience a relaxing day cruising Lake Barkley and admire Panoramic views of the Cumberland River from the comfort of your private balcony.
Day 9 - Dover (Tennessee)
Your complimentary excursion takes you to Fort Donelson National Military Park. Once the gateway to the Confederate Heartland, the Battle of Fort Donelson became a key victory for Ulysses Grant and Union forces. After a short introductory film, tour the grounds of the fort, surrender site, and National Cemetery while learning about the military strategies employed by each side and how the Union victory impacted the entire Civil War.
Day 10 - Clarksville
You will again choose between two complimentary excursions, Customs House Museum & Cultural Centre, built in 1898, this building originally housed a U.S. Post Office and Customs House for the flourishing tobacco trade. This architecturally fascinating structure was designed by architect, William Aicken, who was commissioned by President Grover Cleveland. Or Fort Defiance which was originally a central hub for trading goods and settlement for both the American Indians and white settlers beginning in the late 18th century. During the Civil War, the Fort became a base for the Confederate Troops.
Day 11 - Nashville
On arrival in Nashville you have one more night aboard American Jazz, where you will be taken in the evening to the Grand Ole Opry Show. Enjoy live country music at its best, the evening show will begin at 7:00 pm, featuring up and coming country artists, as well as musical groups that have been Opry Members for years.
Day 12 - Nashville
Disembark American Jazz and take a private transfer to the 4-star DoubleTree by Hilton Nashville Downtown. You have the day to relax before enjoying The Soul of Music City evening tour where you will enjoy an exciting evening through the heart of Nashville! Our reservation-based guided tour takes you on a musical journey. From the city’s rhythm & blues heritage and honky tonks, to its famous music venues. You will learn about the people, places, and events that contributed to Nashville’s iconic music scene, while taking in the stunning sights of this vibrant city.
Day 13 - Nashville
Today you have a day at your leisure to enjoy Nashville, maybe head to Broadway and one of the boot stores to treat yourself to some traditional boots!
Day 14 - Nashville
Take a private transfer to Nashville airport for overnight flight to London.
Day 15 - London (UK)
Arrive back into the UK.
