Timeless Vietnam and Cambodia Special Offer

This luxury holiday begins with a two-night hotel stay at the Park Hyatt Saigon in bustling Ho Chi Minh City, a stunning blend of old and new. See the main sights, and visit symbols of Vietnam's turbulent past including the amazing Cu Chi tunnels. Then embark on your colonial style ship for a 7-night Mekong voyage into the heart of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Enjoy visits to artisan workshops and floating markets via wooden sampan, and see traditional farming villages with their distinctive stilt houses. Cross the border into Cambodia and tour its riverside capital, Phnom Penh, with highlights including the magnificent Silver Pagoda in the Royal Palace before visiting the notorious Khmer Rouge S21 prison and the Choeung Ek Killing Fields.

Sail upriver and receive a traditional water blessing from the local monks at the 8th-century Wat Hanchey monastery overlooking the Mekong, before disembarking the ship to transfer to Siem Reap for three nights at the Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf and Resort Spa. At Siem Reap spend two full days with guide exploring the UNESCO-designated Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom temple complex, one of the world's most important archaeological sites.

Timeless Wonders of Vietnam and Cambodia

Day 1 - UK - Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)

Overnight flight to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 2 - Ho Chi Minh City

Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City with included transfer to the Park Hyatt Saigon hotel for a two-night stay. Spend time at leisure exploring the city's lively Ben Thanh Night Market or one of the renowned evening cafes.

Day 3 - Ho Chi Minh City

This morning, enjoy a tour of the city's colonial buildings including the Notre Dame Cathedral, historic post office and the Reunification Palace, left as it was when vacated by the South Vietnamese President in 1975. Tonight there is a special Welcome Dinner on board the Saigon Princess with a dance performance and stunning views of Ho Chi Minh City at night.

Day 4 - Ho Chi Minh City - My Tho

Head to the fascinating Cu Chi Tunnels which stretch to the Cambodian border. This network of connected underground passages were built to house Viet Cong insurgents during the Vietnam War. Travel to My Tho to embark Mekong Navigator on the Mekong River.

Day 5 - Cai Be - Vinh Long

Board a sampan, a smaller boat designed to navigate canals and inlets, for a tour to Cai Be and Vinh Long to see floating markets, waterside stores, small family-run factories and historic colonial houses. Take a trishaw ride through town and listen to stories told by village elders. Enjoy a delicious Vietnamese-themed dinner on board this evening.

Day 6 - Sa Dec - Gieng Island

Take an oar-powered sampan, the traditional flat-bottomed boat of Vietnam, to observe the daily lives of the locals, and discover scenes made famous by Marguerite Duras’ novel The Lover. Head to the small island of Gieng, home to 19th-century Catholic churches and monasteries, including the graceful baroque-style cathedral.

Day 7 - Tan Chau - Evergreen Island

At Tan Chau take the sampan past floating homes to the mainland town and the beautiful Cao Dai temple before taking a traditional Xe Loi, or cycle rickshaw, to visit a family-run rattan factory producing mats, baskets and other items. After, visit a floating fish farm where there may be the chance to feed the fish. Then go ashore on a 'green island' where farmers' houses are built on stilts to avoid the rainy season floods. River Orchid proceeds upriver to cross the Vietnam-Cambodia border and cruise onward to Phnom Penh.

Day 8 - Phnom Penh (Cambodia)

The riverside city of Phnom Penh is the busy capital of Cambodia. Enjoy a tour to the Royal Palace, whose highlights include the Throne Hall and Silver Pagoda, home to magnificent jewel-encrusted Buddhas, and the National Museum with its amazing collection of Khmer artifacts. Later, enjoy a traditional Apsara dance performance on board and folk dances performed by local children.

Day 9 - Phnom Penh

During the period of Khmer Rouge control from 1975-79 many professionals or intellectuals were interrogated in Phnom Penh at Tuong Sleng, a school turned into a prison - S21, before being sent to the Choeung Ek orchard (killing fields) where they were executed and buried in mass communal graves. S21 is now a museum with many photographs of victims, and there is a memorial stupa at the killing fields. The visit to these two sites is a sombre reminder of an extraordinary period in Cambodian history when some 2 million people disappeared.

Day 10 - Angkor Ban - Wat Hanchey

Visit a local school and the homes of friendly villagers to learn more about their daily life, before an unforgettable water blessing by local Buddhist monks at an 8th-century Angkor temple.

Day 11 - Kampong Cham - Siem Reap

Disembark Mekong Navigator and take a coach on the fascinating journey to Siem Reap through central Cambodia, with interesting rural scenes and busy urban activity. Transfer to the Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf and Resort Spa hotel for a 2-night stay. Enjoy a visit to an art school by remork.

Day 12 - Siem Reap - Angkor Wat - Angkor Thom

A causeway over the moat is the start of a guided tour of Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world and a breathtaking sight to behold. The iconic five spires of this World Heritage Site are featured on the Cambodian flag. On three levels, 669 feet from base to top of the highest tower, the stonework features extensive carvings dating back to the 12th century. Visit the famous village of Preah Dak for the chance to see the traditional noodle-making process then enjoy an Apsara show and dinner. Please note, the order of sightseeing may vary on days 12 and 13.

Day 13 - Siem Reap

Enter the south gate of Angkor Thom, once the capital of the Khmer empire, to view the astonishing pyramid temple of Bayon and the temples of Bantey Srei and Bantey Samre. The 'jungle temple' of Ta Prohm has been overtaken by nature, with trees growing out of walls and tentacle-like roots stretching over courtyards.

Day 14 - Siem Reap - UK

Check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
