Your journey begins with a 2-night stay in Vietnam's bustling capital, Hanoi. Explore the vibrant city on a sightseeing tour visiting the most famous historical and cultural sites before taking a rickshaw in the Old Quarter. Depart Hanoi and visit the World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, for an overnight cruise and stay on a contemporary Junk, cruising through the Bay's islands and scenery.

A short flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia, brings you to the gateway of the ancient Khmer empire. Spend three nights touring the temples of Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A highlight is the temple of Angkor Wat, the world's largest religious temple and once the base of the Khmer kingdom.

Embark the luxurious AmaLotus for your 7-night Mekong cruise. Visit rural villages, historic pagodas, floating markets and a Buddhist monastery on excursions as you cruise along the Mekong. Vietnam, Cambodia and the Riches of the Mekong Itinerary

Day 1 - Hanoi

Arrive in Hanoi, Vietnam's vibrant capital city, known for its graceful colonial architecture, frenetic streets, verdant parks and ancient temples.

Day 2 - Hanoi

A morning sightseeing tour will take you to Hanoi's most famous historical and cultural sites: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square, One-pillar Pagoda and The Temple of Literature. In the afternoon, experience an authentic rickshaw ride in the Old Quarter, followed by a traditional water puppet show. (B)

Day 3 - Hanoi - Halong Bay

After breakfast, depart Hanoi for a scenic coach ride to one of Vietnam's most renowned locations, Ha Long Bay. Board a contemporary Junk that combines classic beauty with modern conveniences. Set sail to discover the Bay's magnificent scenery set amidst stunning limestone cliffs. That evening, enjoy dinner on board and overnight on the Junk. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Ha Long Bay - Hanoi - Siem Reap (Cambodia)

This morning, your Ha Long Bay Junk continues its scenic cruising while a delightful breakfast is served in the dining lounge. Late morning, disembark for a coach transfer to Hanoi Airport. After a short flight, arrive in Siem Reap, gateway to Angkor, the former capital of the Khmer empire and one of the most renowned archaeological sites in all of South East Asia. (B,L)

Day 5 - Siem Reap - Angkor

After breakfast, begin a guided sightseeing tour of the Angkor Archaelogical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights include the Angkor Thom, the newly restored Baphuon Temple, Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King and the Bayon. This afternoon, travel through the rural countryside to visit the pink sandstone temple of Banteay Srei, known as the shrine of the women. Afterwards, visit an English-language school in the village of Ta Toum then enjoy a special show at your hotel featuring local Cambodia/Khmer folk dancers. (B,D)

Day 6 - Siem Reap - Angkor

This morning we will visit the most iconic of all Angkorian temples - Angkor Wat. The world's largest religious temple complex was built in the early 12th century by the Khmer King Suryavarman II and dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. (B,D)

Day 7 - Siem Reap - Kampong Cham

Welcome aboard your luxurious vessel, moored at Kampong Cham. Board a coach and head to the Twin Mountains, known as Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei. In Khmer legend, the mountains were formed as a result of competition between men and women of an ancient Cambodian kingdom to resolve which would be responsible for wedding proposals. Later, join your fellow guests for an evening Welcome Dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 8 - Angkor Ban - Oknhatay

This morning, enjoy a walking tour to the village of Angkor Ban, one of the few not destroyed under the Khmer Rouge regime. People still live in traditional wooden homes stood on stilts and rely on architecture. Later, re-join the ship and cruise to Oknhatey or 'Silk Island' on the banks of the Mekong. It is renowned for its silk weaving. During your time here, head to a local elementary school and observe traditional silk weaving. Please note: Angkor Ban may be inaccessible between August and September, so Wat Hanchey will replace it as the port of call.

Day 9 - Oudong - Kampong Tralach - Phnom Penh

This morning, travel to Oudong and enjoy a tour of a monastery to receive a special Buddhist blessing. Enjoy an oxcart ride through the rice paddies surrounding Kampong Tralach. Later, your ship departs for the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh where there is an afternoon tuk tuk tour. Return to the ship for dinner an an onboard Khmer folk performance by local children. Moor overnight in Phnom Penh. (B,L,D)

Day 10 - Phnom Penh

This morning's excursion visits the infamous Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng S21 detention centre. There is also the option to visit the Central Market. After lunch, join a guided tour of the city's sights, including the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. (B,L,D)

Day 11 - Phnom Penh - Tan Chau (Vietnam)

Spend a day cruising the Mekong River and crossing the border into Vietnam. Your vessel moors at the small town of Tan Chau, Vietnam. (B,L,D)

Day 12 - Tan Chau - Sa Dec

This morning, visit the beautiful town of Tan Chau, barely touched by tourism. Enjoy a traditional trishaw ride around town with stops at silk-making and rattan mat workshops, followed by a boat trip along the narrow channels of the Mekong to 'Evergreen Island'. Alternatively, enjoy the boat trip and return to Tan Chau where you'll visit a rattan mat workshop. Return to the ship and cruise to Sa Dec. (B,L,D)

Day 13 - Sa Dec - Xeo Quyt - Cai Be

Once ashore, you will tour Sa Dec, noteworthy as the town where the French writer Marguerite Dumas spent many years in her youth. Visit a local market and the house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, Dura's Chinese paramour, which is now a small museum. Afterwards board a motor coach for the 1-hour ride to Xeo Quyt, used as a base during the French and U.S. wars and now an important ecological site, with its jungle overgrowth. Visit candy and rice paper making workshops or visit Kiet Old House. In the evening, enjoy a Farewell Dinner onboard. (B,L,D)

Day 14 - Ho Chi Minh City

Your cruise comes to an end as the ship docks at My Tho Port, followed by a transfer to Ho Chi Minh City. It is Vietnam's largest city and an industrial, cultural and educational hub which still retains vestiges of its colonial past. Upon arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, you will enjoy a city tour with highlights including the former Presidential Palace, Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral. Overnight at a luxurious hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. (B,L)

Day 15 - Ho Chi Minh City

Spend the morning at the incredible Cu Chi Tunnels built during the Vietnam War. Spend the afternoon at leisure. (B)

Day 16 - Ho Chi Minh City
