See the sights of Ho Chi Minh City on a guided tour, including the impressive Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Saigon Post Office before visiting the War Remnants Museum.

Embark the luxurious Mekong Navigator and begin your fascinating journey upstream. Explore Cai Be's floating market and visit the home of Mr Huynh Thuy Le, the inspiration for Marguerite Duras' novel, L'Amant, before crossing the border into Cambodia. Enjoy a performance by the Cambodian Children's Group and visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum during your time in the bustling capital, Phnom Penh.

Learn about village life with a visit to a local family's home and a school, then receive a traditional Buddhist Water Blessing at Wat Hanchey before disembarking the Mekong Navigator and travelling to Siem Reap. During your two-night stay, discover the iconic Angkor Wat and watch the incredible Phare Cambodian Circus, a spectacle of acrobatics and theatre.

Mekong Discoverer Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)

Fly from London Heathrow or Manchester to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 2 - Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City has a turbulent and colourful past. Today it is a lively city, home to over eight million people. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, the Grand Hotel, for a two-night stay. This evening, enjoy dinner with your Tour Director and fellow travellers. (D)

Day 3 - Cu Chi Tunnels

Head to the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels, built by the Viet Cong guerrillas as a means of protection. Join a Vietnamese Veteran and learn about the wars and strategies used. This first-hand experience allows you to gain a real insight into one of the most famous wars. Return to Ho Chi Minh City and spend the afternoon at leisure. (B)

Day 4 - Ho Chi Minh City - My Tho

Join the guided tour of Ho Chi Minh City and see highlights including City Hall, the Old Saigon Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and the War Remnants Museum. Transfer to My Tho port to embark the Mekong Navigator and begin your journey upstream. Enjoy a Welcome Reception on board before a Vietnamese Theme Highlight Dinner. (B,D)

Day 5 - Cai Be - Sa Dec

Board sampans and sail through Cai Be's floating market, passing the French gothic cathedral. Enjoy a tour of Anh Kiet House then head to a traditional rice factory. Observe daily life in the village and visit a local brick factory, before travelling to Sa Dec, where you can tour the home of Mr Huynh Thuy Le, the inspiration for Marguerite Duras' novel, L'Amant. You can also enjoy a walk through the town's market. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - Tan Chau

Cruise on a sampan to a Cao Dai temple, then enjoy a ride on a Vietnamese tuk-tuk to a mat weaving workshop. Continue to a floating fish farm and walk through a local village on Evergreen Island before re-joining the ship and crossing the border into Cambodia. This afternoon the culinary team will demonstrate Vietnamese and Cambodian cooking. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Phnom Penh (Cambodia)

Once known as the Pearl of Asia, Cambodia's capital was almost entirely evacuated by the Khmer Rouge in 1975. Enjoy a cyclo tour of the city to see the magnificent Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and National Museum before enjoying free time to explore this city. Before dinner watch a performance by the Cambodian Children's Group. (B,L,D)

Day 8 - Phnom Penh

Head to the Killing Fields, a sombre reminder of the atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge regime. Afterwards, continue to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, used as the main prison and torture headquarters of the Khmer Rouge. (B,L,D)

Day 9 - Angkor Ban

Experience daily life on the Mekong with a visit to Angkor Ban and the chance to meet a local family in their own home. Join the village children in their classroom and learn more about a typical school day, then stop at the local monastery. (B,L,D)

Day 10 - Wat Hanchey - Kampong Cham

Take in the stunning views of the Mekong from Wat Hanchey, before enjoying a Buddhist Water Blessing from the monastery's monks. See Phnom Pros (man Hill) and Phnom Srei (woman hill) as well as the reclining Buddha and preaching Buddha. Lastly, stop at the Angkorian-period complex of Wat Nokor Bachey, before returning to the ship. Tonight there is a farewell reception and Royal Cambodian Theme Highlight Dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 11 - Kampong Cham - Siem Reap

Disembark the Mekong Navigator and transfer to Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor Wat. Transfer to the Shinta Mani Shack for a two-night stay. The day ends at the Phare Cambodian Circus, which was founded to help disadvantaged young people. (B)

Day 12 - Angkor Wat

Begin the day at Angkor Wat, known for its elaborate decorations. Continue to the magnificent Ta Prohm temple, overgrown by jungle trees and the impressive Bayon Temple before concluding at the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. Farewell Banquet Highlight Dinner. (B,D)

Day 13 - Siem Reap - UK

Head to the airport for your return flight to the UK. (B)

Day 14 - UK

Arrive back in the UK.
