Charms of the Mekong Itinerary
Day 1 - My Tho Port
Embark AmaDara at My Tho Port. Meet your fellow travellers at the Welcome Dinner as you cruise to Cai Be. (D)
Day 2 - Cai Be - Sa Dec
Travel by local boat to Cai Be where there is the chance to visit candy and rice paper-making workshops. Later, journey to Sa Dec, noteworthy as the town where the French writer Marguerite Dumas spent many years in her youth. Visit a local market, Cao Dai Temple and the house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, Dura's Chinese paramour, which is now a small museum. (B,L,D)
Day 3 - Tan Chau
This morning, visit the beautiful town of Tan Chau, barely touched by tourism. Enjoy an authentic experience with a traditional trishaw ride around the town, stopping at silk-making and rattan mat workshops then board a small boat and cruise through the narrow channels of the Mekong, stopping at "Evergreen Island". Alternatively just take the boat ride followed by a visit to a rattan mat workshop. Later, cruise from Vietnam to the Cambodian border. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - Phnom Penh (Cambodia)
This morning's excursion visits the infamous Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng S21 detention centre. Alternatively there is the option to visit the Central Market. After lunch on board, join a guided tour of the city's sights, including the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and the National Museum. Tonight on board local children will perform Khmer folk dancing. Day 5 - Oudong Kampong - Tralach - Phnom Penh
Visit Oudong, the former royal capital of Cambodia, where you can receive a special Buddhist blessing at a monastery, a truly unforgettable experience. Continue to Kampong Tralach where you can enjoy an authentic oxcart ride through a local riverside village. Later, view Phnom Penh's French colonial architecture on a tuk tuk ride around the city. Day 6 - Oknhatey Village
Oknhatey is known as the Silk Island and is famous for its silk weaving tradition. Visit a local elementary school and see traditional silk weaving. (B,L,D)
Day 7 - Angkor Ban - Kampong Cham
Enjoy a walking tour of Angkor Ban, where villagers still live in traditional wooden homes on stilts. Set sail for Kampong Chang, where a coach will take you to the legendary Twin Mountains. Tonight there is a festive Farewell Dinner on board. (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Kampong Cham
Disembark in Kampong Cham
