Picturesque Elbe Itinerary

Days 1-2 - UK - Berlin (Germany)

Fly from the UK to Berlin and transfer to the Golden Tulip Berlin Hotel for an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast included. The hotel is centrally located so it is within easy reach of historic sites including the magnificent Charlottenburg Palace. The following day, enjoy a guided city tour which takes in the iconic Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie.

Day 3 - Berlin - Potsdam

After breakfast, check-out of your hotel and travel by coach to Potsdam. On arrival, join a fascinating walking tour which showcases the magnificent architecture and lavish palaces. This afternoon, embark your ship, Johannes Brahms. Welcome drinks reception and dinner on board. Moor overnight.

Day 4 - Potsdam - Zerben

This morning, set sail from Potsdam. The state of Brandenburg is perfect for nature lovers with several UNESCO nature reserves. Explore the historic centre of Brandenburg this afternoon with highlights including St Catherine's Church and the Town Hall. Rejoin the ship and cruise towards Zerben.

Day 5 - Zerben - Magdeburg

This morning, you'll begin cruising to Magdeburg. On arrival, explore this fascinating city independently. Sights include the impressive Gothic Cathedral and eccentric Green Citadel. Rejoin the ship and sail overnight to Wittenberg.

Day 6 - Wittenberg

Wittenberg was once home to Martin Luther who alledged nailed his 95 Theses to the door of Castle Church. This is believed to have started the Protestant Reformation. Explore independently or perhaps join the optional walking tour taking in the UNESCO-listed town square.

Day 7 - Meissen - Dresden

This morning, arrive in Meissen. There is an optional tour of the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory and museum as well as a workshop where you can see the work which goes into making the pieces. This afternoon, there is an included excursion to the infamous Colditz Castle situated on a rocky outcrop. After lunch, leave Meissen and set sail for Dresden.

Day 8 - Dresden

Explore the historic city of Dresden renowned for its spectacular baroque and rococo architecture. An optional city tour is available which visits the famous Semper Opera House and impressive Zwinger Palace. Rejoin the ship and cruise towards Decin this afternoon.

Day 9 - Melnik (Czech Republic)

This morning, cruise to Melnik. Alternatively, take the optional excursion to the soaring Sandstone Mountains. The unusual rock formations have been sculpted by nature. The ship will dock briefly in Usti for excursion participants to rejoin. Later, the ship will cruise around the stunning gorge of Bohemian Gate, before arriving in Melnik.

Day 10 - Melnik - Prague

Arrive in Prague this afternoon and disembark for an included sightseeing tour. See the magnificent Charles Bridge lined with baroque statues and the beautiful Town Hall with its famous astronomical clock. Spend the evening at leisure.

Day 11 - Prague - UK

Disembark Johannes Brahms and transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
