Enjoy an overnight stay in Bucharest in a 5* hotel then explore the city the following day on a guided tour. Drive through the scenic countryside of Romania and embark your ship in Cernavoda. Discover the amazing wildlife of the Danube Delta on a boat tour then arrive in Sulina where the Danube meets the Black Sea. Celebrate arriving at 'Km 0' with Champagne on the Sun Deck then spend a day relaxing on board, enjoying the passing scenery. A walking tour of Rousse showcases the city's beautiful architecture and a trip to Ivanovo uncovers the rock-hewn churches and monasteries that date back almost 1,000 years.

See the imposing Baba Vida fortress then tour Vidin's opera house and enjoy a private symphony concert. Head to the western Balkan mountain range to see the stunning natural sandstone formations at Belogradchik. Cruise through the Iron Gates, a breathtaking natural wonder with fjord-like scenery to admire. Learn about the area's ancient history at the Lepenski Vir Archaeological Park and see the 14th-century Golubac fortress which dominates the entrance to the Iron Gates. Voyage from The East Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Bucharest (Romania)

Meet your representative at London Heathrow for pre-flight refreshments then fly to Bucharest. Transfer to your 5* hotel and enjoy dinner before spending the evening relaxing.

Day 2 - Bucharest - Cernavoda

Discover the tree-lined boulevards and magnificent Belle Epoque buildings of Bucharest during a panoramic tour of the city. Enjoy lunch accompanied by local musicians then drive through the scenic Romanian countryside to Cernavodă to board Royal Crown.

Day 3 - Tulcea - Sulina

Tulcea is the gateway to the Danube Delta and its amazing wildlife. Join a boat tour to see species including cormorants, white tailed eagles, glossy ibises and Egyptian white pelicans. Sulina is where the River Danube meets the Black Sea. The Danube is 2,845km long and kilometre markings can be seen along the length of the river. Enjoy Champagne on the Sun Deck to celebrate arriving at ‘Km 0’.

Day 4 - Cruising the Danube

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day cruising the River Danube.

Day 5 - Rousse (Bulgaria)

Explore Rousse, one of the largest cities in Bulgaria, on a walking tour to see the beautiful architecture made by Italian, Austrian, German and Bulgarian architects which gave Rousse the nickname The Small Vienna. Travel to the village of Ivanovo where a complex of rock-hewn churches, chapels and monasteries date back to the 12th century and there are exceptional 14th-century murals.

Day 6 - Vidin - Belogradchik

The Baba Vida fortress towers over the River Danube in the Bulgarian frontier town of Vidin and is the only entirely preserved medieval castle in the country. Visit the opera house where there is a private symphony concert. The rock sculptures of Belogradchik stand in the hills of the western Balkan mountain range and are natural formations that resemble people, animals, fortresses and pyramids.

Day 7 - Cruising the Iron Gates

Today, enjoy a full day of cruising through one of Europe's most awe-inspiring natural wonders, the Iron Gates, where the Danube winds through spectacular fjord-like scenery.

Day 8 - Lepenski Vir (Serbia) - Golubac

Learn more about the Mesolithic and Neolithic settlers at the Lepenski Vir archaeological park where some of Europe’s oldest stone idols have been found, and can be seen in the site museum. The 14th-century fortress of Golubac once guarded the entrances to the Iron Gates Gorge and was fought over by the Ottomans, Bulgarians, Hungarians and Serbs.

Day 9 - Belgrade

Uncover Belgrade’s turbulent past on a city tour to see St Sava, the world’s largest Orthodox Church, the Square of the Republic and the Kamelegdan Fortress. Enjoy a performance of local folk music and dancing before returning to Royal Crown.

Day 10 - Kalocsa (Hungary) - Budapest

Tour the beautiful town of Kalocsa then travel into the Puszta, famous for its paprika production. Watch an impressive performance by Puszta horsemen which showcases their exceptional riding skills. Spend the afternoon cruising to Budapest for an exclusive, private visit to the Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum. Dedicated to the famous 19th-century Hungarian piano virtuoso and composer, the museum will host a canapé reception and concert.

Day 11 - Budapest

Enjoy a guided tour of both Buda and Pest, two cities that were physically joined when the Chain Bridge was built across the Danube in 1849. See St Matthias Church and explore the Fisherman’s Bastion which boasts superb views over the Danube to Pest. There is time to explore the city at leisure before this evening's Farewell Gala Dinner on board.

Day 12 - Budapest - UK

Disembark Royal Crown in Budapest and transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
