Rhine and Danube Symphony Itinerary
Day 1 - UK - Cologne (Germany)
Fly from the UK and embark your ship in Cologne. Enjoy a welcome cocktail with fellow guests before dinner this evening.
Day 2 - Rudesheim
Cruise to the beautiful wine-making town of Rudesheim where there is an optional city walk with a visit to the famous Music Museum to see the fascinating self-playing instruments. Alternatively, take a tram ride on the “Wine Express” through the vineyards of Rüdesheim and sample fine wines.
Day 3 - Miltenberg - Wertheim
Miltenberg is the first stop today - join the optional guided tour around the medieval half-timbered town then drive to neighbouring Wertheim with its famous glass museum.
Day 4 - Wurzburg
The scenery around the Bavarian city of Wurzburg suggests its wine-growing influences, so why not join the optional walking tour of the city followed by a wine tasting? You can also choose the optional excursion to Rothenburg ob der Tauber and its perfectly preserved medieval town centre, or perhaps pay a visit to the Marienberg Fortress.
Day 5 - Bamberg
Relax on board this morning and enjoy the beautiful views as the ship drifts along the river to Bamberg. In the afternoon take the optional tour of the UNESCO World Heritage city; highlights include the New Residence, the unique Town Hall built on a bridge and the Imperial Cathedral. Afterwards the ship travels through the Main-Danube canal and there is an evening talk about this important waterway.
Day 6 - Nuremberg
Explore the architecture of Nuremberg with an optional tour of the city which is home to a romantic Old Town. Alternatively, delve deeper into the history of World War II and the Nazi era at the Documentation Center. Rejoin the ship for the Captain's Gala Dinner.
Day 7 - Regensburg
This morning join the optional guided walking tour of Regensburg, one of Germany's best-preserved medieval cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its stunning architecture. Highlights include the stone bridge, the Church of St James and patrician houses. In the afternoon, perhaps visit the historic Thurn and Taxis Palace, or join the optional excursion to Weltenburg Abbey, before returning to the ship for an authentic Bavarian evening on board while the vessel continues to Passau.
Day 8 - Passau - UK
Disembark ship after breakfast and transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
