This Danube cruise is packed full of superb architecture, fascinating history and beautiful scenery with an excellent range of optional excursions.

Start your journey in the musical city of Vienna, capital of Austria, where there is the chance to explore Schonbrunn Palace and the Hofburg Palace on guided tours. The small village of Esztergom has many architectural treasures including the Bakocz chapel. In Budapest the magnificent parliament overlooks the Danube river and the Slovakian capital of Bratislava is home to superb Baroque architecture.

Sail from the quaint village of Durnstein to Melk where the abbey has been home to Benedictine monks for 900 years, then on to the welcoming city of Linz whose Baroque architecture includes the remarkable St Florian Monastery.

Pearls of the Danube - WBL

Day 1 - Vienna (Austria)

Embark your ship in Vienna and settle into your cabin. Presentation of the crew during the welcome cocktail and dinner on board this evening.

Day 2 - Vienna

This morning there is the choice to visit the Schonbrunn Palace, former summer residence of the imperial family, followed by a panoramic tour of Vienna. This afternoon there is the option to visit Hofburg Palace, once the heart of imperial life. Depart tonight towards Esztergom.

Day 3 - Esztergom (Hungary) - Budapest

Arrive mid-morning in Esztergom where there is free time to explore the city which was the first capital of Hungary under the Arpad dynasty. Spend the afternoon cruising towards Budapest.

Day 4 - Budapest

Take the optional guided tour of Budapest and discover Buda with its impressive Baroque buildings and Pest, with its mix of architectural styles. There is also an optional excursion this afternoon to visit the Gellert Baths and Spa. Sail through the night to Bratislava.

Day 5 - Bratislava (Slovakia)

Spend the morning cruising along the Danube through majestic scenery. Arrive in Bratislava late morning. In the afternoon there is an optional guided tour of Bratislava. Highlights of the charming capital of Slovakia include Baroque palaces and pleasant squares. Back on board continue cruising towards Durnstein.

Day 6 - Durnstein (Austria) - Melk

Explore Durnstein, a quaint town that contains an astonishing abbey, which has one of the most beautiful Baroque bell towers in Austria. Cross the Wachau Valley and arrive in Melk. This afternoon visit the Benedictine Abbey of Melk on an optional guided tour.

Day 7 - Linz

Early morning arrival in Linz. Perhaps join the guided tour of the baroque St Florian Monastery in the morning, or the afternoon guided tour of the welcoming city of Linz.

Day 8 - Vienna

Disembark after breakfast on board
