See the sights of Bratislava including the splendid Baroque Grassalkovich Palace and beautiful Klarissen Church where there is a string quartet recital.

Royal Crown arrives in the romantic city of Vienna, the former capital of the Habsburg Empire and home to the famous Ringstrasse and Dorotheum, one of the largest auction houses in Europe. You'll be treated to an exclusive canape reception and concert at Liechtenstein City Palace during your time in this fascinating city. Take in the breathtaking scenery as you cruise the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley before arriving in Grein for a private music recital.

Admire St Florian, the largest monastery in Austria, which houses the 7836-pipe Bruckner Organ, as you spend time in Linz. Learn about Vilshofen's interesting history during a walking tour which showcases an array of monuments including the Stadtplatz, see the furnished chambers of the majestic Palace of Thurn and Taxis in Regensburg, and cruise the Main-Danube Canal to the Bavarian city of Nuremberg where you'll discover historic works of art.

Highlights of the Danube Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Budapest (Hungary)

Enjoy pre-flight refreshments at London Heathrow before boarding your flight to Budapest where you'll embark Royal Crown. After dinner onboard, there is entertainment by local gypsy musicians in the lounge.

Day 2 - Budapest

Enjoy a tour of the Hungarian capital which takes in the beautiful old quarter, St Matthias church and the ornate Fisherman's Bastion which offers breathtaking views across the Danube. Alternatively, head to the serene town of Szentendre which is renowned for its architecture and art galleries. This afternoon, join a private tour and recital at the magnificent Hungarian State Opera House. This Neo-Renaissance building has amazing acoustics and is one of the most renowned musical institutions in Europe.

Day 3 - Bratislava (Slovakia)

Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia. During a guided tour you'll see St Michael's Gate, the only remaining medieval fortification, as well as St Martin's Cathedral, the beautiful Neo-Classical Primate's Palace and splendid Baroque Grassalkovich Palace. The tour concludes with a string quartet recital in the charming Klarissen Church.

Day 4 - Vienna (Austria)

Arrive in romantic Vienna, the former capital of the Habsburg Empire. Discover the famous Ringstrasse and the pretty Old Quarter, housing St Stephen's Cathedral, during a guided tour. Continue to Dorotheum, one of the largest auction houses in Europe, where you can browse the fascinating antiques, furniture and art which are auctioned off. The highlight of today is an exclusive canape reception and concert at Liechtenstein City Palace, a stunning Baroque Palace noted for its original interiors.

Day 5 - Wachau Valley - Grein

Admire the stunning scenery as you cruise the breathtaking UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley, before arriving in the small city of Grein. Enjoy a guided city tour with highlights including Greinburg Castle which once served as a ducal residence. You'll also see Grein's unique theatre which was built in the former granary of the Town Hall. It is believed to be Austria's oldest town theatre and you will enjoy a private music recital.

Day 6 - Linz

Enjoy a morning of scenic cruising before spending the afternoon exploring Linz on an excursion. Linz is the third largest city in Austria and was founded by the Romans. It is home to the oldest church in Austria, St Martin's, which dates back to the 8th century, as well as St Florian, the largest monastery in Upper Austria. It is a fantastic example of Baroque architecture. Anton Bruckner who composed church music during the 19th century was the organist at St Florian during his youth. You'll get to appreciate the sound of the 7836 pipes of the great organ, known as the Bruckner Organ.

Day 7 - Vilshofen (Germany)

The Vils and Wolfach rivers flow into the mighty Danube in Vilshofen. Learn about the town's history during a guided walking tour which showcases the restored alleyways and an array of monuments, including the Stadtplatz with the Baroque town tower, plus the stunning Church of St John. The majestic Schweiklberg Benedictine Abbey overlooks the beautiful old town. Following the tour, you'll get to sample the traditional Bavarian beer.

Day 8 - Regensburg

Medieval Regensburg is a delight to explore with its red roofed churches, soaring turrets and 12th-century townhouses. The spectacular Palace of Thurn and Taxis is located in the heart of the old town. Today's guided tour takes in some of the furnished chambers and the cloisters in the oldest part of the monastery, as well as the Princely Treasures Chamber. Later, enjoy cappella music from the cathedral choir of St Peter before returning to the ship.

Day 9 - Nuremberg

Royal Crown cruises the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal to the Bavarian city of Nuremberg, overlooked by an impressive imperial castle which played a key role in the Old Holy Roman Empire. Following the outbreak of World War II a former beer cellar under the castle was turned into a storage facility for historic works of art. You'll enjoy a tour of this bunker followed by time at leisure to explore the quaint old town with its beautiful Gothic churches.

Day 10 - Nuremberg - UK

After breakfast, disembark Royal Crown and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
