Join your ship in the musical city of Vienna and cruise to the Hungarian capital of Budapest, where there is an optional city tour showcasing the main sights including the Buda Castle quarter and iconic Hungarian Parliament. Continue to the beautiful Croatian town of Vukovar, gateway to the breathtaking Kopacki Rit Nature Park with its vast expanses of wetland.

During your time in the Serbian capital of Belgrade, take the opportunity to see the mighty Kalemegdan Fortress, enjoy a visit to the Royal Mausoleum of the Serbian dynasty, or perhaps take in a folklore show and Skadarlija, the famous artists' quarter. Your ship cruises the awe-inspiring Iron Gates, one of the most spectacular gorges in Europe which also forms a natural border between Serbia and Romania.

Explore the beautiful Bulgarian town of Svishtov or join the optional guided tour to Veliko Tarnovo at the foot of the Balkan Mountains, during which you'll see the ornate 13th-century church of St Peter and St Paul. A highlight of this exciting holiday is a visit to the serene UNESCO-listed Danube Delta, one of the largest wetland areas in the world, home to an abundance of flora and fauna. Explore further on an optional boat safari, before heading to the Romanian capital of Bucharest for an overnight hotel stay.

Vienna to the Black Sea Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Vienna (Austria)

Fly from the UK to Vienna and embark your ship. Meet the cruise director and fellow passengers at a Welcome Cocktail, before enjoying a Welcome Dinner. Set sail towards Budapest.

Day 2 - Budapest (Hungary)

This morning, arrive in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. A lot of the city is UNESCO-listed including Andrassy Avenue, the Buda Castle quarter and Heroes' Square. Perhaps join the optional guided tour which takes in Pest, passing the Great Market Hall, before continuing to the Hungarian State Opera and the iconic parliament building. Continue to Heroes' Square for a photo stop before crossing one of the many bridges to Buda. Head to Castle Hill for a visit to St Matthew's Church and Fisherman's Bastion (if open to the public). There is a second optional excursion to the Royal Palace of Godollo, once the summer residence of Empress Elizabeth and Emperor Franz Josef of Austria.

Day 3 - Vukovar (Croatia)

After lunch, arrive in the Croatian town of Vukovar, from where you can take an optional excursion to the Kopacki Rit Nature Park. Enjoy a boat trip through the wetland to the village of Kopacevo for a visit to the Rural House where you'll enjoy a presentation of traditional fishing tools, lived up with funny fisherman stories. Taste Croatian delicacies including fruit brandy and smoked pork sausage, before heading to Osijek for a stroll around the old town with its baroque military fortress. A walking tour takes in the remaining part of the walls and main square which contains the largest baroque statue in Croatia.

Day 4 - Belgrade (Serbia)

Reach the Serbian capital of Belgrade during breakfast. There is a choice of optional sightseeing activities. Perhaps join the city tour with highlights including the Kalemegdan Fortress, Terazije Square and St Sava Cathedral, or head to Topola and Oplenac for a visit to the Royal Mausoleum of the Serbian dynasty. The third option is an evening coach tour through the city to a hotel where you'll enjoy a folklore show followed by a drive to Skadarlija, the famous artists' quarter. Sample Serbian specialities accompanied by live music from a Serbian band.

Day 5 - Iron Gates

Today you'll cruise through the breathtaking Iron Gates, one of the most impressive gorges in Europe which also forms a natural border between Serbia and Romania. One of the most scenic stretches is near the town of Orsova where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Carpathian Mountains and the Balkan mountain range. The small church of Mraconia stands at the water's edge, while the rock sculpture of King Decebalus of Dacia soars skywards at Dubova.

Day 6 - Svistov (Bulgaria) - Giurgiu

Early morning, the ship arrives in the Bulgarian town of Svishtov. There is an optional excursion to Veliko Tarnovo at the foot of the Balkan Mountains. Pass the fortress Zarewez and enjoy a photo stop, before heading to the 13th-century church of St Peter and Paul. You will rejoin the ship in Giurgiu. After lunch, cruise down river, and this evening enjoy a Gala Dinner onboard.

Day 7 - Danube Delta - St George

The ship cruises through the stunning UNESCO-listed Danube Delta, one of the largest wetland areas in the world, home to an abundance of flora and fauna. Travel along St George's Canal, known as 'kilometre zero', where the Danube flows into the Black Sea. Your destination is the fishing village of St George, which is the starting point for an exciting optional Danube Delta boat safari. Journey from the end of the St George arm by a side arm to the Sahalin lagoon, home to a large pelican colony. After an observation tour through the lagoon, make your way back through the channels, including the Ciotica channel which passes one of the oldest fish processing centres in the Danube Delta. Enjoy a visit to the village of Saint George, before a walking tour to a local fish restaurant.

Day 8 - Fetesti (Romania) - Bucharest

After breakfast, disembark the ship and transfer to your hotel in Bucharest. There is an included city tour with highlights including Stravropoleos Church and the impressive Palace of the Parliament.

Day 9 - Bucharest - UK

Check-out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
