Hidden Wonders of Myanmar Itinerary
Day 1 - UK - Yangon (Burma)
Today, board your plane at London Heathrow Airport for your flight to Yangon
Day 2 - Yangon - Mandalay
Arrive in Yangon and take an internal flight to Mandalay. Be met of arrival and transferred to the Irrawaddy River to join your luxurious ship. Later on, visit the Kuthodaw Pagoda and the Shwenandaw Monastery. Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner and onboard cultural show from the Mandalay Fine Art School. (L,D)
Day 3 - Mingun - Mandalay - Amapura
Cruise to Mingun and explore the massive ruins of Pathodawgyi (Unfinished Pagoda). You’ll also see the towering bronze bell and admire the Myatheindan Pagoda. Back in Mandalay, visit the Mahamuni Buddha. This afternoon, travel to Amarapura for a silk workshop, as well as the famed U-Bein Bridge. Enjoy a sunset sampan cruise with a drink in hand as you watch local villagers and monks cross the bridge while the sun sets. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - Sagaing
Disembark in Sagaing, the former Royal capital, and visit the Soon Oo Ponya Shin Pagoda for breathtaking views. After, visit a silversmith workshop. (B,L,D)
Day 5 - Yandabo - Pakokku
Today, see a pottery-making demonstration by local artisans in Yandabo. After lunch on board, travel to Pakokku for a series of traditional local workshops. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - Bagan
This morning, journey to New Bagan and experience a cultural elephant dance before visiting a lacquerware workshop. You’ll then explore some of the stunning temples including the well-preserved Ananda Temple, commonly known as the ‘Westminster Abbey of Myanmar’. Later this afternoon, head to a viewing tower to observe a stunning sunset over Bagan with free-flowing drinks and canapes. (B,L,D)
Day 7 - Bagan - Salay
You have the option to rise early and experience a bird’s-eye view of the stunning plains of Bagan aboard a hot air balloon (at additional cost). This morning, choose your included sightseeing option. Those who feel like getting a little more active on their journey can embark on a leisurely ride past the ancient stupas of this remarkable place. E-bikes are also great if you don’t want to do the heavy pedalling. Alternatively, visit the iconic golden Shwezigon Pagoda and learn about its cultural significance. Continue your cruise towards Salay. In the afternoon, visit Yoke Sone Kyaung, the region’s oldest surviving wooden monastery, and the Mann Paya Pagoda, home to Myanmar’s largest lacquer Buddha (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Magwe
Enjoy a morning at leisure before visiting the golden Mya Tha Lun Pagoda in Magwe. You will also take a trip to a Buddhist Nunnery. Afterwards, explore the downtown area.. (B,L,D)
Day 9 - Magwe - Yangon
Disembark your ship and board your included charter flight to Yangon. Take a short stroll to Sule Pagoda and Pansoden Street. Tonight’s dinner is served at a local restaurant. Spend two nights at the Sule Shangri-La Hotel in Yangon. (B,L,D)
Day 10 - Yangon
Take a short ferry ride to the rural village of Dala. Hop on a trishaw and visit a candle-making workshop to observe this traditional art. After lunch, enjoy your choice of included sightseeing - perhaps visit the city's Secretariat Building or visit the colourful stalls of the Bogyoke Markets. Later, one of the world’s most famous pagodas awaits – the Shwedagon Pagoda. No visit to Yangon is complete without gazing in awe at this golden masterpiece. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner at your hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 11 - Yangon - UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. (B)
Day 12 - UK
Arrive back in the UK.
